Cameron David Enns, 22 of Coaldale, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday December 16, 2014 at St. Michael¹s Palliative Care Centre. In his short life, Cam made a special impact on all those who knew him and will be deeply missed. Cam¹s celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Coaldale Mennonite Church (2316 17th Street, Coaldale) at 2pm.

MARY FULTON HAIG CANT passed away peacefully on December 17th, 2014 in Magrath at the age of 88 years. Left to celebrate her life are her 7 children: Tricia (Bill), Sheila (John), Ian (Dawn), Brian, Bruce, Debbie, Lynda; 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters. Our Mom has gone home to share christmas with dad this year. We will miss her but know she is happy and where she has longed to be. LYNCH-STAUNTON, Col. The Honourable Alfred George, KStJ, ED, CD, KCLJ, KM, B. Comm, LLB
(June 1, 1923 ­ December 14, 2014)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred George Lynch-Staunton, 91, of Qualicum Beach, BC. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Audrey Lynch-Staunton; sisters, Miriam Fraser and Peggy Allred; children, Kim, Julie, Georgina (Glenn), Patricia (Julius), Sarah, Martha (Martin), Marcus (Cheryl); and step- children, Jan (John), Paul (Judith), Jill (Vernon), Andy. George was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Mary Lynch-Staunton in 1990. He is also survived by grandchildren, Lukacs (Jody), Laura, Julia (Caylen), Katherine, Audrey, Emily, Andrea, Sophia, Adam, George, Josh, Stephen, Zoe, Russell, William; and five great-grandchildren. Not enough thanks can be expressed to Audrey for the love, care, and companionship she has given George during his retirement years in Qualicum Beach.
George was a retired judge but a soldier at heart, earning many decorations and service medals. He was born into a western ranching heritage at Pincher Creek, Alberta to Corbett and Betty Lynch-Staunton, and like many of his generation, grew up quickly. In 1939 he joined the 15th Alberta Light Horse militia then saw active service in 1941 in WWII with the 14th Field Regiment Royal Canadian Artillery serving in Canada, UK, Northwestern Europe and Germany until 1946. George was wounded on D-Day at Juno Beach, and carried with him the shrapnel and memories from this landing for the rest of his life. In his retirement, as Associate Director of Juno Beach Centre Association, he was instrumental in securing in excess of $1 million in contributions for the Juno Beach Centre in Normandy. After the war, George continued to serve for years in the reserve force and militia with the 19th Alberta Dragoons and 20th Field Artillery, and was an honourary colonel for both the 20th Field and 5th (BC) Field Regiments RCA.
George earned his law degree from the University of Alberta in 1953, married in 1954, and started his family in 1955. He practiced law at Wood, Moir, Hyde, and Ross in Edmonton where he and Mary raised their family among a strong network of not-forgotten neighbourhood friends until 1973 when he was appointed to the Lethbridge Provincial Court. George served as Assistant Chief Judge, Southern Alberta then retired to Qualicum Beach from Lethbridge in 1988. He believed in comraderie, honour, and service without reward; his professional, public, and voluntary service was extensive. George¹s affiliations and service in Alberta and BC have included: aide-de-camp to three lieutenant-governors; founding president of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Men¹s Club; founding member of Alberta/Canadian Army Cadet Leagues; Alberta commissioner of St. John Ambulance Brigade and Nanaimo branch building fund committee; charter member of the United Services Institute; Knight of St. John/St. Lazarus of Jerusalem and Knight of Malta; Canadian citizenship ceremonies; Steel Scouts; Lethbridge United Way; Alberta/Canadian Provincial Judges Association; Human Rights Panel; Vancouver Island Military Museum; Royal Canadian Legion; Royal Life Saving Society; Fish and Wildlife Association; and president of the 5th (BC) Field Regiment RCA Foundation. Like his own father, George was a gentleman; polite, fair, and compassionate. He had a sense of humour, spoke his mind, and stood by his word. He was socially aware; giving time and treasure to the Church and supporting causes for the less fortunate. He was a husband, father, and granddad; a cowboy, soldier, judge, and friend. He led a busy life and knew many people. George loved nothing more than to garden and putter around the house, drive the forestry and side roads, ride his horse (Rascal, Red, Major) or listen to Mantovani with a drink at the end of the day. He has earned his rest. Well done good and faithful servant. Cremation has occurred. A private family tribute will take place in Southern Alberta at a later date. RICHARD “DICK” WATSON WILLIAMS

Richard Williams passed away peacefully in his own home at Garden View Lodge in Kimberley, BC on December 11, 2014. Dick was born on August 25, 1927 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He grew up exploring Waskana creek, delivering newspapers to the Legislative Assembly, building all sorts of childhood contraptions in his backyard, bicycling about town, and playing hockey on the neighbourhood rink.
He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 63 years Orphee Williams (nee Ashe), 3 daughters Richeal (Ralph) Tweten, Corrine (Rodney) Jerke and Ashelyn (Derek) Redman, son Edwin (Norma) Williams, dearest friend Penny (Colm) Covenden, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father Edwin Williams, his mother Gertrude Williams (nee McKay), and his sister Helen (Bill) Ford. Dick obtained his Bachelor¹s and Law degree from the University of Saskatchewan. A guiding force in his life was the love of nature: after seeing the Rocky Mountains while surveying as a student he decided that upon graduation he would journey west and live in their shadow. He articled with the late Fred M. Pritchard in Taber and then moved to Lethbridge in 1954 and joined the Firm of Davidson and Davidson. In 1957, the firm took the name of Davidson and Williams. Dick was a dedicated lawyer who was honoured to be of service to others. He also loved his time away from the office, spending weekends and holidays at his cabin in Montana or elsewhere in the Rockies. His partners kidded him about planning for his retirement in the mountains the day he started his practice. Dick was an active member of the community serving as the first chairman of the Lethbridge Community College Foundation and participating in many leadership roles in the Rotary Club. Dick and Orphee were avid hunters and horseback riders. His first year of retirement was devoted to raising two beautiful colts and living full time at their cabin in BC. They remained living there happily for 24 years. He was thrilled to report that he was able to go for a walk every day with one of his beloved dogs or cats tagging along, constantly on the look out for a white tail buck, a cow elk, a good tree to take for firewood, or signs of the hummingbirds returning in the spring. In the past three years Dick and Orphee lived at Garden View Lodge in Kimberly but still drove to their cabin each weekend to be closer to nature. Dick was known for his quick sense of humor and it was rare that he did not have a story or joke to pass along. He never lost his ability to make others smile, even as he courageously orchestrated his final days after three years of battling cancer. His modesty, strength of character, and determination were truly remarkable and inspired many. The family is very appreciative of the staff at Garden View, and at the Cranbrook Oncology (Cancer) Unit, as well as Dr. Lange in Kimberley and Dr. Benke in Lethbridge for their dedication, and thoughtful and passionate care over the past three years. Dick will be remembered for his smile, twinkling eyes and his love of everything in nature. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Cancer Society or a Wildlife charity of your choice. A celebration of his life will take place in the summer among the things that inspired him most – family, mountains, wildlife and all things in nature. Rita Minnie Lewis of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Arthur Donald Lewis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 93 years, with her family by her side. Rita was born in Exeter, England on October 3, 1921. She married Arthur on March 31, 1945 and came to Canada shortly after as a war bride. Rita leaves to treasure her memory, her daughter Lorraine (Randy) Morgan; son Donald Lewis; grandchildren Michael (Michelle) Morgan and Carolyn (Jonathan) Morgan; sister Margaret in England; and her good friends Anne and Georgina. Besides her loving husband Arthur, Rita was predeceased by her parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters. At Rita¹s request there will be a private family service. Barney was born and raised in Masefield, Saskatchewan where he met and married Mary Peterson. In the spring of 1953 they moved to Hays where they began farming and started their family. He farmed from spring to fall and worked in the oil patch in the winters. Barney enjoyed watching and travelling with his children and grandchildren to sporting events wherever they were playing. Barney also enjoyed fishing and over the last fifteen years went to the coast on a salmon fishing trip. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed dearly.
