The best U19 and U17 golfers in the province tee off at Henderson Lake Golf Club this morning at the Alberta Junior and Juvenile Championship.
The event is a 54-hole tournament for the girls and 72 holes for the boys and begins at 7 a.m. today at Henderson.
“The Junior Championships involve a massive effort from all parties, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Henderson Lake and a great group of volunteers from Lethbridge host us for the week to carry out a first class Championship for the best junior golfers in our province,†said tournament director Robert Forshner in a release. “Dean Spriddle and his team at Henderson Lake have been enthusiastic and accommodating since day one, helping ensure that it is a special experience for our competitors.â€
The tournament has been held since 1938 and has showcased some top Canadian goflers over the years. A field of approximately 120 boys and 39 girls will compete, including some local golfers like Pincher Creek’s Ethan Choi and Jeff Masse and Darin Bertschi of the Country Club.
