BROWN

ELSIE SUDO BROWN, beloved wife of the late Stanley Wilford Brown, passed away quietly at the age of 96 Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Prairie Ridge Good Samaritan Home, Raymond, Alberta.

Elsie leaves to mourn her children: Gary, Randy (Lana), Cherilyn (Dale) Jorgensen and Greg (Dana); as well as 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; also one sister, Dorothy Going and two brothers Robert and Ronald Sudo.

Elsie was predeceased by her parents Hisaji Sudo and Leontiene Coppieters and brothers: Ceston and George Sudo; sisters Maralda Brown and Gladys Audenart.

Elsie was born in Raymond January 21, 1920. Her memories of growing up were happy memories. Fun times with family and friends. Being the 3rd oldest she learned to work at a young age. Christmases were special to remember. Her sisters were her best friends.

Elsie married Stanley Wilford Brown on July 15, 1940. They had a wonderful life together. They worked hard on their farm south of Raymond. After 49 years on the farm they moved to Raymond and retired. Throughout the years Elsie enjoyed curling, camping, square dancing, bowling, golfing and winters in Arizona. She loved her family and loved their visits. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elsie was a good, kind and special friend to many and will be missed by all. Elsie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may meet the family at the LDS – Raymond Stake Center on Thursday, April 28 from 7-8 p.m. or on Friday prior to the service from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.

The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, RAYMOND STAKE CENTER, on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Craig Palmer officiating, Raymond 7th Ward.

Interment to follow at the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.


Lillian Mae Dangerfield

1925 – 2016

Lillian Mae Dangerfield (McLachlan) of Coutts, Alberta passed away peacefully on April 22, 2016 at Milk River Extended Care at the age of 90. Lillian was born at the John Thompson homestead on May 9, 1925. She attended school at Clarinda until its closing, then completed her schooling at Coutts. She married Frederick James Dangerfield on September 22, 1943. They were married for 48 years before Fred’s passing. Lillian was a woman of many talents and courage. As a homemaker she was very involved in the raising of their five children and assisted Fred with farming. She was an active community member with the Grain School, the Grain Community Club and Ag Society, the Women’s Institute and helped establish a Sunday school at Grain. She held many positions over the years with the Women’s Institute (WI) and she especially enjoyed her work as District Director as she met many wonderful women from across Alberta. She was a committee member for The Hills of Home History book published in 2003. A highlight for Lillian was receiving the Alberta plaque for 100 years of farming on the Dangerfield family homestead in 2010. The farm was a busy place with numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren spending happy times adventuring, exploring and helping on the farm. Lillian enjoyed hosting family and community gatherings and her door was always open and the coffee was always on. With her family she instilled her principles of love, giving, and acceptance and there are many precious memories from spending time with Aunty Lillian/Grandma. She loved her years at the foothills of the Sweetgrass Hills, but finally moved from the farm in Knappen (east of Coutts) at the age of 80 and resided in Coutts until she moved into the Prairie Rose Lodge at age 85 and then Milk River Extended Care. Lillian is survived by her sisters Betty Ostby and Mavis Botter, brother Ian McLachlan, sister-in-law Irene McLachlan, Jo McLachlan, and Sheila McLachlan. Her children: Sharon (Mike) Lerum of Sweetgrass, Keith (Carolyn) Dangerfield of Coutts, Bruce (Kathy) Dangerfield of Lethbridge, Valerie (David) Johnstone of Qualicum Beach BC, Kathy (Elwin) Worobec of Edmonton. Her grandchildren: Shannon (Kirk) Lubick, Justin Lerum, Stephanie (Paul) Townsend, Lara (Matt) Dunn, Chris Dangerfield, David Dangerfield, Erin (Jeremy) Larose, Suzanne (Al) Maudie, Jill (Chris) Mellor, Lyndsey (Chris) Jackson, Sonja (Stephen) Iwasawa, Andrea (Sean) Murphy, Matt Worobec, Scott Worobec and her great-grandchildren Evan, Elia, Jonathan, Nicolas, Elise, Lorelai, Isaac, Austin, Chase, Shaylee, Angelica, Carys, Asher, Kate, Roman, Chase, Molly, Presley, Abigail, Evelyn, Charlotte, Caitlin, and Oliver. She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Hazel McLachlan, her husband Fred, her sisters Janet Lippa and Pat Chartrand, her brothers Archie, Jim, Hugh, and Andrew McLachlan and her grandson Jeff Dangerfield, granddaughter Melanie Dangerfield and great-grandson Benjamin Dangerfield. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Prairie Rose Lodge and Milk River Extended Care for their support in the last years of her life. McKENNA

Dorothy Irene McKenna (née Whitty) passed away peacefully in her sleep April 22, 2016, at The View seniors home in Lethbridge, Alta. She was 70 years old. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ian, daughter Deirdre (Jon), two sons, Brian (Anika), and Niall (Megan); also, four grandchildren, Isobel, Angus, Amy and Olivia; as well as a fifth grandchild due in June. She is also survived by two sisters, Kathy and Linda, a sister-in-law, Fiona (Gelt), and a step-sister, Judi, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario, Scotland, Ireland and England. Dorothy was born in 1945 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ont., to Reginald Whitty and Isabel Allward. She graduated high school in 1964 as an Ontario Scholar, then studied French at Glendon College of York University. She was fond of dormitory life and singing with the accomplished York University Choir. Dorothy graduated York in 1968 with a BA in French then obtained her teaching certificate. In 1977, Ian and Dorothy moved with their children to Ian’s hometown of Dundee, Scotland, where Dorothy began teaching and raising her family. After eight years in the UK, the family moved across the “pond” again, settling in Lethbridge. Dorothy continued teaching, including several years at the University of Lethbridge. She applied her concern and passion for women’s equality as executive director of the Womanspace Resource Centre for almost two decades. She was a well-respected advocate on gender issues in Southern Alberta. Dorothy launched several projects with Womanspace, tackling issues such as poverty and financial literacy. She volunteered for numerous community causes and on several boards, including Public Interest Alberta and the South West Alberta Coalition on Poverty. She received several awards for her work, including the YWCA Women of Distinction (2003), the Alberta Centennial Medal (2005) and a Public Interest Alberta Award (2010). Dorothy exemplified care and concern for others in all she did, and this was especially true in her complete devotion to family and friends. She will be dearly missed. The family asks for tributes to Dorothy to be made in the form of social activism. That is what Dorothy would wish. Isabel Jane Thomas

1923 – 2015

Isabel Jane Thomas, beloved wife of the late W.N. (Fred) Thomas, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit, on April 24, 2016. At Isabel’s request, a Graveside Service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, Lethbridge, AB, at 1:00PM on Thursday, April 28, 2016.

PERVERZIFF

BLANCHE PERVERZIFF, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society West Highland Centre, on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the age of 95 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, George Perverziff, her devoted daughter Bonnie Scott and husband Tom Scott, grandsons Jeremy Perverziff and Brian (Charissa) Perverziff and their children Duncan and Kaylie.

Blanche was predeceased by her loving son Dennis, her sisters Emilie Younie, Mary Brandeis, Anne Turlik, Pauline Locke and brother Frank Brown. She will be forever remembered by her nieces, Anne Gillin, Jean Ramage, Connie (Norm) Maurice, Dianne (Floyd) Friend, her nephews, Gordon (Sharon) Turlik, Ken (Donna) Turlik, Gerald Locke, Doug (Cheryl) Brown, Wayne Brown, Gary Brown and sister-in-law Billy Slavich as well as additional extended family members.

Blanche was born in Bellevue (Maple Leaf), Alberta, the youngest child of Frank and Pauline Brown. Later, the family moved to the Park Lake District. She attended a country school, walking the distance with her sisters. This petite, energetic young woman helped her father on the farm, worked as a sales clerk and had a passion for music. Although she had no formal training, she could play the piano and even became the singer in a local band.

Blanche married the love of her life in 1944 and was a co-partner in her husband’s trucking business. She and George provided a loving home environment for their children. Outside the home, she enjoyed working in retail ladies’ wear. Her devotion to family extended to being care-giver to her ailing grandmother and mother. Blanche was a fabulous homemaker and cook. She took such pride in having family members sit around the dining room table to enjoy her spectacular meals. Never was she too exhausted. She became a member of a square dance organization and a bowling team (The Musketeers). She cherished the vacations to Las Vegas, the trip across Canada and their holiday in Hawaii.

A special thank you to the staff at the West Highlands Centre, the many doctors and nurses, Home Care staff and Family Services. Their professional care and dedication is greatly appreciated. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Mrs. Phyllis Clingman of Blackie, Alberta, passed away surrounded by her family on April 23, 2016 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Greg; sons Tyler (Petrina); and Braydon (Rebecca); mother Shirley Sewell; grandchildren London, Cruze, Abigail, Liam, Charlotte; siblings; Debra, Dale (Donella), Carla (Herman). WELLS

1932 – 2016

CHARLES (CHARLIE) H. WELLS, husband of the late Dorothy Wells, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the age of 83 years.

Charles is survived by his loving daughter Kathleen E. Wells of Calgary, Alberta and loving son Charles (Chuck) Wells of Edson, Alberta, in addition to his two sisters Patricia (Stan) Shpiel of St. Albert, Alberta and Audrey Warawa of Weyburn, Saskatchewan.

Charles was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy I. Wells (Jarvie), his parents Gilbert and Rita Wells, brother Ronald Wells and sister Margaret Rowbottom.

Charles was born on August 21, 1932 in Consort, Alberta. Charles also lived in Priddis, Alberta; Maybutt, Alberta; Raymond, Alberta and Lethbridge, Alberta. Charles went to work with his father in the farm machinery business and achieved Journeyman Partsman in 1969. Charles later went on to work for the Rogers Sugar Company in Raymond and later in Taber until his retirement.

Charles was an avid fan of the sport of baseball and had some early success playing the game. His enthusiasm for the game never ended. Charles also loved gardening and was very proud of his sunflowers and flower gardens at his home in Lethbridge. Charles also developed a love of baking in his retirement and could often be found in the kitchen whipping up a cake or batch of cookies. Charles also enjoyed travelling when possible. Waterton, Victoria and Naramata were some of his favorite destinations.

Charles always had a wonderful smile and a gleam in his eye for friends and family. Charles had a strong pride in his country and if you went by his home, you would most often see the Canadian flag atop the flagpole. Charles had a strong sense of duty and supported numerous charities.

Charles was a long-time member of the McKillop United congregation as well as the North Star #4 Masonic Lodge.

Special thanks go out to those who provided care for Charles when he was no longer able to provide for himself.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 – 15th Avenue South, Lethbridge, on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Trevor Potter officiating.
