VIVIAN BISSETT, beloved wife of George Bissett, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 90 years. Emil Wirzba

1928 – 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Emil Wirzba announces his passing on February 1, 2017 in Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 88 years. Emil was born on August 28, 1928 in Martinshoehe, East Prussia to August and Olga Wirzba. Emil immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his parents and four brothers. His older sister joined them in 1952. Like many immigrants of the time, the family worked in sugar beet fields east of Coaldale for two years. On August 28, 1954 he married Margaret Strecker. Together they lived their 62 years in Lethbridge. Emil is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, and their 5 children: Dan (Sharon), Bernie, Carl (Helene), Marvin (Tanell), and Lorraine, and 6 grandchildren, Stephen (Jessica), Johannah and Grace, Kevin and Zachary, and Andrew. Emil worked at Horton Steel from 1954 until 1971 when the Lethbridge plant was shut down. Then, together with his brothers Alex and Eric, they formed Wirzba Brothers Construction and built custom-built homes in Lethbridge and the surrounding area for almost 30 years. Church and his faith in God were very important to Emil. He was baptized in 1943. He was a founding member of Bethany Baptist Church in 1952 and was active until the church closed in 2000. He and Margaret then joined First Baptist Church in Lethbridge. In his retirement, Emil enjoyed taking care of the house and yard. Emil cared deeply about his family. He always asked about his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and took an interest in their lives. We all knew he prayed for us each day. Opa passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Hospital after a short illness on February 1, 2017. A Viewing will be held at 11:00am-11:45am at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th St. S., Lethbridge AB. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00pm at Mountain View Cemetery. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB. ERIN PATRICIA WALSH

March 16, 1983 – January 19, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erin Walsh at the age of 33. She leaves behind her husband Quinn Poulsen and three children Emily, Izabell and Kole; her sister Heather, and nieces Shannon and Shayln. She also leaves behind her special friend Danni Walker.

Erin predeceased by her mother, Janet Jaworski and is survived by her father Kelly Walsh (Debby).

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 4 at Chinook Society – 408 13 St. North, Lethbridge from 2-4 p.m.

Samantha is survived by her 3 children – Trisha, Drizelle, & Cameron and was predeceased by her parents Franklin Crow Chief and Patricia Gambler.

Helen Kuniec

1917 – 2017

Mrs. Helen Kuniec of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Kuniec, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital aon Monday, January 30, 2017 at the age of 99 years. She was born in Poland on August 25, 1917 where she was raised and educated. She married John Kuniec in 1939 after the war. Helen and John continued to farm in Poland until 1969 at which time they immigrated to Canada. They lived in Taber, AB and later moved to Lethbridge. Helen was employed by a factory until her retirement. Helen was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very generous to everyone, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Helen is survived by her children Kathy (Mario) Siodlowski, Stan Kuniec, Irena (Jerry) Hemperek, Mike (Danuta) Kuniec, Terry (Marvin) Strachan and Bernadette Demetroff; as well as her grandchildren. Juli Ann Calpas

1935 – 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of a dear wife, mother, and grandmother, announce the passing of Juli Ann Calpas, on January 26, 2017, at the age of 81 years, with her last peaceful hours at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Juli was born July 31, 1935, to Andrew and Susannah Hagel in Lancer, Saskatchewan, and grew up on the family farm, the youngest of the five children. She was in Taber when she met and fell in love with John and they were married in 1960. They have five boys, Greg, Loren, Ron, Ken, and Bryan. The family lived in Taber, Lethbridge, and then Edmonton, the latter being where the kids did a majority of their schooling and growing up. In Edmonton Juli was extremely active both with the boys’ school and sports and yet still found time to volunteer with the St. John’s Catholic Church and the Crestwood Community League. Juli was the lead parish organizer and care person for a five member Vietnamese immigrant family. In 1985, Juli and John returned to Lethbridge and Juli became very involved with the CWL and the Assumption Church social committee. She was at John’s side throughout his career and travels and loved her husband and kids and could not have done more as a mother. Her cooking and baking was especially loved as was her time spent with relatives and friends. Juli will be remembered for her super smile and super friendly and outgoing personality. She will be deeply missed, especially by husband, John, who went beyond call looking after Juli after her accident a few years ago. Also remembering her dearly are her children Greg (Suzanne) of Calgary, Loren of Coaldale, Ron of Tilley, Ken of Lethbridge, and Bryan (Denise, passed away) of Lethbridge, and her grandchildren Madison, Alexandra, and Sydney. Juli is also survived by her sisters-in-law Dot Hagel and Tillie Hagel of Lancer, Saskatchewan and numerous nieces and nephews. Juli was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Susannah, her brothers Tony and Simon, and her sisters Barbara and Jo and their husbands Simon and Ken. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge led by Maureen Condon Horon. NEILSON ALICE LARUE (DOWDLE) NEILSON Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend

Mother was always a hard worker and with a sense of humor. She was the eldest of Alice Ada Webster and Merriett Dewey “Duke” Dowdle. She was born in Cardston, Alberta Canada on September 27, 1921 in a small house across the street from the temple. LaRue met Sidney William Neilson whom she married and became the proud parents of six children: Robert “Bob” Neilson (Rose Banack), Darlene Duncan, Yvonne Jones, Shelley (Robert “Bud”) Shinkle, Brian Neilson (Fiona Wilson) and Glen Neilson (Donna Nordstrom). Mom had many talents: crochet, quilting, embroidery, calligraphy, exquisite penmanship, canning, fantastic baking, and dancing. LaRue left us to be with her husband Sid on Saturday, January 28, 2017 who has been waiting 20 long years for her to join him. She is survived by her 6 children, 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, her sister Enid Pepper. In addition to her husband Sid, LaRue is predeceased by her brother Lloyd (Zoe) Dowdle, brother-in-law Raymond Pepper, great grandchildren Kiana Elford and Mateo Martin. A Memorial Service to honor our Mother will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment to be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Cardston Cemetery.

It is with heartfelt loss that we announce the passing of PETER J. SCHAMBER, of Milk River, AB, beloved husband of Helen Schamber on January 30, 2017 at the age of 100 years in the Milk River Health Centre.

Peter was born in Denzil, Saskatchewan, and moved to Primate, Saskatchewan where his parents farmed. During the dirty thirties, Peter ‘rode the rails’ across Alberta with his brother Joe, looking for work. He joined the Army during World War II serving as a mechanic and driver, bringing home many interesting stories. He then farmed in Milk River for many years. He also served as a Town Councilman in Milk River, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was an avid curler until his eighties. Politics was always an endearing topic to discuss. Peter brought a smile to the faces of those he touched. His family has all passed before him, except for his youngest brother Alex Schamber of Provost, AB; sisters-in-law Betty (Edward) Schamber of Kelowna, B.C. and Eleanor (Adam) Schamber of Lethbridge. Peter leaves his wife, Helen Schamber (Orosz) of 64 years; daughter Michele (Bernie) Miller, grandchildren Cody (Chayna) Miller and their children Carrera and Ciarra; sons Paul Schamber and Alvin (Sherry) Schamber, grandchildren Rory (Donedin Jackson) Schamber, Aaron Schamber, Travis (Calais Milo) Schamber and Christopher Schamber (Kamal Sekhon) as well as many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the warm and loving care given to Peter by the staff of the Milk River Health Centre. It was sincerely appreciated.

PATRICIA MARGRET WARD passed away peacefully on January 27th surrounded and loved by her extensive family. Pat was an active and involved member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings over the years.She was predeceased by her eternal companion Victor in 2014, and two grandchildren. Yoko Daisy Kosaka 1938 – 2017

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Yoko Daisy Kosaka (nee Nakano) on January 22, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta. She was born in Steveston, B.C. on July 29, 1938. Daisy is survived by Dennis, her loving husband of 56 years, her daughter Renee Husdal, son Tyler Kosaka (Christina), brother Yasuo Nakano (Min), sister Mickie Atagi as well as three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Daisy was devoted to her family, camping in Waterton National Park and loved her dog Koko. Daisy lived in Lethbridge for many years and during that time she worked at General Stewart Elementary School. She was a member of the Japanese United Church and enjoyed taking yoga classes at the Lethbridge Senior Citizen Organization. Koden and flowers are graciously declined. Our thanks go out to the staff at Walden AgeCare in Calgary for taking such good care of Daisy. A celebration of her life will be held in Lethbridge at a later date.
