Hilda Eberle

1919 – 2017

Hilda Irene Eberle, beloved wife of the late John Eberle, passed away in Taber on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 98 years.

FREDERICKS

ELIZABETH ANNE FREDERICKS, beloved wife of the late Harley Gordon Fredericks, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the age of 86 years.

Elizabeth is the loving mother of Richard (Mary) Fredericks of Fort McMurray, Bonnie Cress of Calgary and Harley (Monica) Fredericks of Lethbridge, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her four brothers, Maurice (Lourdess) Trockstad, Eivind Trockstad, Bruce (Shirley) Trockstad and Leif Trockstad, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Harley Gordon and two sons David and Terry.

Elizabeth was born June 25, 1931 in Lethbridge, where she was raised and educated. She was proud to say she lived in five provinces of Canada. Some of her favourite memories were from basking in the sun in Arizona. She will be missed by her family and her friends in Arizona.

The family will be conducting a Private Graveside Service at a later date.

Grant Kristjanson

1943 – 2017

Mr. Grant Kristjanson of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Elaine Kristjanson, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the age of 74 years.

MEHALKO

JOHN MEHALKO, beloved husband of Helen Mehalko passed away on Friday, August 11 at the age of 94.

He was born in Retlaw to George and Julia Mehalko on July 12, 1923. The fourth of five children, John was raised on the homestead family farm in the Sundial area and started working on the farm as a small boy while attending school. John continued farming until moving into Lethbridge, where he continued to trade cattle.

John married Helen Kundrik and they celebrated their 65th Anniversary this past June. John was the loving father of Joyce (Richard) Haney and Donna (John Colapinto) of New York. He has four grandchildren, Shaun (Tricia) Haney of Picture Butte, Kevin, Kerri Lynn (Bradley)Vanderberg, and Johnny Colapinto, and five great-grandchildren, Kalem, Rylynn, and Karsen Haney, and Damen and Kadence Vanderberg. He is also survived by sister-in-law Maxine Mehalko and many nieces and nephews.

John was hardworking and generous to his family and friends. Competitive in all aspects of his life, he played for the Sundial Baseball Team, curled, played horseshoes, and was an avid sportsman. He had a love for camping and traveling and was known for his meticulous attention to his motor homes and boats.

John is predeceased by his parents, his brothers George (Pat), Joe, sisters Regina and Margaret (Ralph) Bilton, niece Sherry Bilton, and great-grandson Branden Vanderberg.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Michael’s Healthcare Centre where John resided for the past eight years.

Family and friends are invited to a Service of Remembrance at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM.

Ivan Mikalson
1943 – 2017
 Ivan Orville Mikalson, beloved husband of Christine Mikalson, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 73 years.

 Besides his loving wife Chris, Ivan is survived by their children Rhonda (Wil) Klok of Barnwell and their family Kayden and Cole; Denise (Jason) Sadlemyer of Redcliff and their family Bradie Jensen (Amanda Myers) of Lethbridge and Shondie Jensen of Medicine Hat. He will also be remembered by his honourary grandson Josh Lawlor (Samantha McPherson) of Lethbridge; sister Brenda (Terry) Rombough of Taber; brothers Clarence (Judy) Mikalson of Wetaskiwin, Gary (Kim) Mikalson of Redcliff and Bill (Karen) Mikalson of Coaldale; sister-in-law Agnes Mikalson of Bassano. He is also survived by Chris’ family, Tony (Shawne) Halvorson of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Dorothy (Tom) Larsen of Kelowna, British Columbia, Bob (Marie) Halvorson of Lethbridge, John (Marilee) Halvorson of Raymond and Pauline Halvorson of Lethbridge; seventeen nieces and nine nephews including his special nieces Jamie, Sheridan and Serenity Peirens of Okotoks. Ivan will be remembered by many wonderful friends, especially Dick and Lynda Murray of Lethbridge.
 He was predeceased by his parents Regina (nee Bendicson) and Birger Mikalson; infant son Peter Martin Mikalson; brother Wayne Mikalson; Chris’ parents Sarah and Peter Halvorson.
 Ivan was born in Vulcan on November 24, 1943, the second oldest of his siblings. He grew up on the family farm near Enchant. On October 28, 1967, he married Christine Halvorson in Coaldale.
 Ivan ran the seed cleaning plants in both Turin and Enchant before returning to school to become a licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic. Ivan and Chris moved to Taber in 1976 where they raised their daughters and have resided for forty one years.
 Ivan was a camping enthusiast. Dutch Creek  was where you could find him during most summers after his retirement from Lucerne Foods in 2004. His grandchildren were a sense of pride for him. His sense of humour and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.
