Dawgs top the Bulls

The Lethbridge Bulls remain in search of their second win of the season.
The Bulls were topped 8-5 by the Okotoks Dawgs during Western Major Baseball League play Saturday night at Spitz Staidum.
The loss comes one night after the Bulls dropped a close 6-4 decision to the Dawgs in Lethbridge’s home opener Friday night and puts the team at 1-7 on the season.
On Saturday night, the Dawgs opened up a 4-0 lead with one run each in the first and second innings before plating another two in the third before the Bulls replied with a pair in their half of the third to trim the lead to 4-2.
Lethbridge closed within one with another run in the fifth inning to make it 4-3, but a four-run seventh inning had the Dawgs off and running on their way to the win that improves them to 5-2.
The Bulls added two more runs in the eighth to round out the scoring.
Lethbridge put up 15 hits in Saturday’s loss, led by shortstop Blake MacDonald, who hit his second home run of the season and went 4-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI.
Jaret Semeniuk was 3-for-4 Saturday, while Brett Mercier was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Graham Schmidt batted 2-for-4, also with one RBI.
Bulls starter Andrew Grieder took the loss, pitching six innings and surrendering four runs on five hits, walking three and striking out five.
The Bulls are back in action this afternoon as they head to Brooks to take on the Bombers.
