ALLAN WILLIAM DOMEIER passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the age of 72 years. Allan will be laid to rest at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 1210 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. Erma Erickson
1926 – 2018
Mrs. Erma Erickson of Edmonton Alberta, (formerly of Milk River and Lethbridge), beloved wife of the late Mr. William Erickson, passed away on Friday October 26, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Erma immigrated to Canada from Hungary with her mother, Mary Juhasz, and her older sister Margaret. They came to the 1-17 district west of Milk River where her dad Joseph, earlier bought a farm. Erma had her schooling at Bank View School, then went to Milk River to work at Roberts Hotel and later moved to Lethbridge to work at the Shangre-la restaurant for several years. She then moved back to Milk River to marry William Erickson and raise their family. Erma worked part time at Border Counties Hospital for several years. After the passing of her husband, Erma moved back to Lethbridge with her daughters, going to work for several years at Municipal Hospital in the CSR department. She retired to Fairmont Gate to enjoy her back yard rose garden. She sewed many cross stitch beautiful pictures to give to her family. Erma leaves behind five daughters to mourn her passing, Marcella Kosinski, Bonnie Read, Monica Brisebois, Corinne Erickson, and Lorna Stuart; ten grandchildren Tracy Lofstrand, Cynthia Read, Cory Read, Conrad Brisebois, Eric Brisebois, Leslie Wyers, Mandy Dunlop, Kristy Eirikson, Savanah Stuart, and Stephanie Stuart and 13 great-grandchildren. Erma will miss her rose garden and squirrels. A Family Graveside Service was held.

It is with sadness that we announce the return of Garth Fitzner to his heavenly home on October 27th, after a prolonged struggle with cancer.
Garth will be very missed. He leaves behind his wife Joanne Fitzner (nee Robinson) and their little girl Rebekah, and his four grown children Justin, Sam, Amanda, and Victoria.
He is survived by his 6 siblings, Mike, Chris, Sally, Jeff, Tim, and Kurt, and his mother Elayne. He is predeceased by his father Reinholt.
Garth loved to dream up big ideas, and enthusiastically shared his passion for his projects with those around him. He spent his youth looking up at the stars and nurtured his fascination of space in his children. Garth was involved in scouting for 30+ years as a youth, a leader and a trainer. He received many awards, but he would have said his best accomplishments were acting as a District Commissioner for Beaver Hills and building the youth leadership courses that were beloved in the Northern Lights Council. Through these events alone, he changed the lives of hundreds of youth and leaders. He always looked for ways to reach out to others. Even as he battled with illness, he continued to reach out to youth and leaders within the Baden Powell Service Association, by working on their social media sites and designing policy.
Garth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of the gospel, and his life was a powerful example of his faith in its teachings. He was a dedicated family history researcher, eager to help others unearth their own genealogy. His efforts gave many of those already passed on the opportunity to accept sacred covenants done on their behalf.
Garth was also probably the best laser tag player you’ve ever seen.
Above all, he was an incredible husband and father. Garth achieved many things in the short time he had, but his family was his number one passion. He was dedicated to his children and his wife. It was his greatest joy to learn he would become a father again in his later life.
After Garth’s wishes, there will be a private family ceremony to celebrate his life at a later date.

MUNROE
HAROLD “HUBCAP HARRY” MUNROE, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the age of 82 years.
Harry is survived by Linda (Ken) Pickering, Dave Munroe, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Harry was born on August 24, 1936 in Etzikom, Alberta. He was a self taught musician, playing in many bands including “Whiskey Gap and The Holidayers”. He enjoyed driving around collecting hubcaps for his store. Harry enjoyed camping and fishing.
A Memorial Service will be held at the NORDBRIDGE SENIORS CENTRE, 1904 – 13 Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Please enter through the South doors. Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

“Baba”
It is with profound sadness that we have had to say goodbye to our “Baba.” She has finally found peace. She passed away at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton on October 27, 2018.
Mom’s life journey began July 21, 1933. She was born in Filipovac, Croatia and lived eleven happy carefree years with her parents Magdelena and Alexander Feltrini, younger brother Johnny and older sister Carolina.
World War Two found them escaping the then Yugoslavia to a new life in Canada, working in the sugar beet fields at Nobleford, Alberta. The five years spent in refugee camps robbed her of childhood joys and opportunity for formal education.
Mom met a young Croatian farmer, George Perin, and the two married in 1952. To this marriage were born three daughters: Sylvia, Linda and Diane. In this small community of Barnwell and Taber, she made many friends, many of whom are still dear to her today. She and George made a home and livelihood on their modest farm. Mom has always felt herself a “farmer” and enjoyed farm tasks and her gardens.
After many months of kidney disease, George required dialysis, available then only in Edmonton at the University Hospital. Thus, in the spring of 1965, the family moved to Edmonton. George received dialysis for four years, surviving four more years after a kidney transplant, and passed away in February 1973.
Mom found employment at the Charles Camsell Hospital in the housekeeping, kitchen and laundry departments. She always recognized that the most valuable cultural currency she had not had been able to access was education. Her fulfillment came in seeing all three daughters and all six grandchildren convocate from university in diverse professions.
After George passed away, Mom found another companion in widower Steve Serediak. They married in August 1982. They both continued to work at the Charles Camsell Hospital and enjoyed their new home in St. Albert. After they both retired, they made their home at Brookside Estates. While Steve became the unofficial “fix it” man in the estates, Mom became a core part of the social and activity life. Steve succumbed to his heart and asthma conditions in June 2012.
When George passed away, the girls were 20, 19 and 15 years old and so Mom was not alone at home. When Steve died, she found herself living in a “too big” house. Her health too had become compromised, and so she moved to her condominium at Devonshire in May 2017. New health issues emerged with the fatal diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in July 2018.
Living and working “on the farm” was one of her greatest recollections, and she was able to have one last week at Sylvia and Derek’s farm before being admitted into palliative care at St. Joseph’s Hospital in August 2018. There, she truly received compassionate care in the final days of her life journey.
Fiercely independent, Mom’s wishes for no funeral were respectfully followed. Her urn will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery, next to George.
The Feltrini family history now resides with the only surviving member, Mom’s sister Carolina Jurcevic. Left with the abundance of love Mom had for family are Sylvia and Derek Burden and their sons Shane and Anthony; Linda and Ian Fraser and their daughters Carol-Anne and Katherine; and Diane and Ted Szumlas and their daughters Georgina and Alexandra.
A special place in her heart was for her three great grand-daughters – Willa, Anna and Evie.

MARY ETHEL PETERSEN, beloved wife of the late Norman Charles “Bud” Petersen, of Lethbridge, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 95 years.
She is survived by sons Wayne (Patricia) Petersen of Lethbridge, Rand (Michelle) Petersen of Edmonton, and Lonny (Dennice) Petersen of Fort Saskatchewan; grandchildren Kristen Moreau and Richard (Carmen) of Fort Saskatchewan, Scott (Amelia) of Lethbridge and Ian (Michelle) of Calgary; great-grandchildren Sophia, Ella, Isla, and Emma of Fort Saskatchewan and Evan and Claire of Calgary; sister Frances Homulos (Ron) of Edmonton, and brother George Kolibar of Lethbridge, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents John Sr. and Anna Kolibar, her brother John Kolibar Jr, sisters Annie Labas, Margaret Pennie, and Helen Kolibar, and brothers-in-law.
Born in Mislava, Czechoslovakia on August 2, 1923, Mom immigrated to Canada in 1929 with her mother and four siblings to join father John in Lestock, Saskatchewan. Hard times followed with all family members pitching in with farm work and family care. Mom and sister Margaret moved to Lethbridge in 1943 and found work at the Café in the Greyhound Bus Depot. There she met a dashing young member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Mom and Dad were married in November of 1945 and moved to the Petersen family farm in 1946 when Dad was released from military duties. Wayne, Rand and Lonny came along in the early 50’s. Mom worked hard as a farm wife and mother looking after her “boys”. She was active in the Wrentham United Church as a regular attendee, volunteer, and choir member. Schooling requirements convinced Mom and Dad to move to Lethbridge in 1965. Mom carried on her church affiliations with McKillop United. The challenges of farming from Lethbridge for ten years resulted in sale of the farm in 1974. Dad fell ill in the spring of 1975 but that presented an opportunity for Mom and Dad to become snowbirds to Mesa, Arizona for the next 20 years. Dad’s health issues ended the annual Mesa pilgrimage and Mom and Dad remained in the same house as they had purchased in 1964 until a move to the Good Samaritan’s Park Meadows Village occurred in 2007. They both blossomed there as care issues were handled by others. Dad passed in 2008 and Mom moved to the Cottages at the Good Samaritan’s facility when her own health issues challenged her independence. She enjoyed sing-songs, card bingo, and day trips for shopping and luncheons during her time at Park Meadows.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the management and staff at Good Samaritan’s Park Meadows Village and Dr. R. Strank for the excellent care provided to Mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 – 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Terry Shillington officiating.

DANIEL SOROCHAN, beloved son of John (deceased) & Jean Sorochan, passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the age of 58 years. Besides his devoted wife, Lisa, and her daughters, Jenn & Randi Burton, he is survived by his siblings, Glenn (Heather MacDonald-Sorochan), Don (Dilene), Dale, Myra, Janette & James, all of Lethbridge and area. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margot (Steve Smith) and brother-in-law, Michael (Cheryl), both of Toronto, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Vancouver, Cortes Island, Okotoks and Lethbridge.Dan was born in Medicine Hat, raised in Transcona, Winnipeg, MB and lived most of his life in Lethbridge. After graduating with distinction from the University of Manitoba (Engineering), he chose to spend his entire career working in the family business: Sorochan Enterprises. A workplace accident ended his construction career in 2011. In retirement, Dan was busy with his interests in anything tech, photography and rock & roll. He never missed a Bombers game on TV and he relished the times he could attend their games in Calgary. In 2016, Dan and Lisa bought “The Ranch” on Daigle Lake at the very end of the Alberta Ranch Road. It was a very special place for Dan that has all the best that southern Alberta has to offer; the foothills and mountains, the peace and quiet, and the caring neighbours. It was a place where Dan loved to be surrounded by family and friends while sharing a glass of California Zinfandel (not Primitivo).A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 – 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Moermann officiating.The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists of the Emergency and ICU at the Chinook Regional Hospital for their excellent care of Dan and his family. They would also like to acknowledge all of those who acted as caregivers and supported Dan at home over the past five years. Robert Spenceley
1966 – 2018
In the evening hours of Tuesday, October 23, 2018 a much-loved son and brother passed away suddenly in Victoria BC. Rob Spenceley, the son of Jim and Lynda Spenceley of Lethbridge, moved here with his parents and older brother Bill in 1973. He attended Lakeview Elementary, Gilbert Paterson Junior High, and graduated from the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute in 1984. Rob’s teachers were always finding nice ways to explain that Rob’s natural energy was sometimes “disruptive” in class! The fact is, for all of his 52 years he was known for his quick wit, his ready laugh and his generous heart. He eventually studied at George Brown College in Ontario and became a refrigeration and heating technician, and this was his career up until the time he passed away. Family meant a lot to Rob, and he was forever grateful to his extended family in Alliston, Ontario–especially Aunt Trudy and Uncle Jack Solomon who helped him out so much when he apprenticed for his trade in his cousin Vern Solomon’s Environmental Systems Corporation. Rob also looked up to his big brother Bill, who fondly referred to his little brother as “Schnurf”. The last time the brothers spent together was a happy time in Rob’s favorite place, out on the ocean fishing. In fact, Rob was happiest out on the water, smiling into the wind piloting his beloved boat. Along with his love for hunting and camping, Rob was also an accomplished cook, and all of us will miss his laugh in the kitchen on Christmas Eve, helping Lynda with the schnitzel. Joining Jim, Lynda and Bill in a loving good-bye are his sister Susan Langdon, his sister-in law Shannon Spenceley, cousins Vern Solomon, Susan Kenney (Solomon), nieces Alexandra Cattoni and Burgess Langdon, nephews Eric Cattoni, Ted Spenceley and Spencer Langdon, and his uncle Frank Kyselka and family. A private family service will be held at a later date. Please Note: Rob’s brother (Bill) will be taking Rob’s urn on a road trip to meet up with friends/colleagues to share a beer and some stories in your city (TBA).
