RIEGER

Mr. Klaus “RICK” Rieger of Raymond passed away peacefully in Raymond long-term care on February 13, 2019 at the age of 67 years.

Rick was born in Pforzheim Germany On August 23, 1951 to Heinz and Margot Rieger. He had a wonderful childhood growing up with his sister; Susan (Douglas). He came to Canada on a boat with his grandmother as a very young boy to live. He then grew up in British Columbia where he learned to love the ocean and the humid climate there. Rick worked with his dad every summer as a hardwood floor layer and was very good at it. But most of all he was a true fisherman & spent many years together with his dad catching fish in lakes and rivers of BC. He later joined & served in the Air Force and became very knowledgeable and skilled in mechanics and the aircrafts. Following the Air Force, Rick married the love of his life Linda and was blessed with their son Gary. Rick later moved to Alberta for work and then Alberta became his home. Rick was a dedicated & very hard worker. Anything he set his mind to do, he could do, and do it well.

Rick had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed the summer weather the most! The sun became his best friend each summer, as he spent countless hours outside over the last 10 years, soaking up & enjoying the suns rays!

Rick had a great love for music and also his computer and any game on it. He was very good at keeping the staff up on all current events going on throughout the world. Rick also had a love for animals with cats definitely being his most favourite.

Rick had a hard shell but he definitely had a very big heart. Personal relationships became important to him and he felt many regrets for mistakes in his past but he felt it was too late & he could not change them. He had a generous and very kind spirit. He was very proud of his son Gary and talked of him often, reminiscing with staff showing off pictures of Gary he had in his photo album! He had two pictures of Gary and his grandsons, Kristjan and Ivor. He kept their pics displayed on his dresser and they continue to be his most treasured items until his last moments!!!

A Celebration of his life will be held for any friends or hospital staff on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 12:15 in the Classroom at Raymond Health Centre.

WILDE

BETTY JOAN MEHEW WILDE passed away peacefully, Friday morning, February 15, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Betty was predeceased by her dear husband Arvin, her parents, Leonard and Myrtle Mehew, her brother Wayne (Carolyn), sister Edie (David) Blasco. She is survived by her children, Dian (Wesley) Olsen, Wendy (Krey) Stirland, Richard (Tessa) Wilde, Helen (Travis) Hatch, Darin (Amy) Wilde, Anna (Kelly) Lewis, 27 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, her sisters Jean (Doug-deceased) Christensen, Mona (Wayne) Christensen, Sharon (Ron) Ehlert, Karen (Monte) Christensen, Rae (Max) Powelson, and brother John (Bev) Mehew.

Betty loved her family and her life revolved selflessly around them. No husband, child or grandchild could have had a more devoted fan and support to the countless basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball games, music recitals, school plays and graduations. Her sisters were her best friends and she loved to visit with them. Betty served with compassion and diligence in many Church responsibilities, especially enjoying serving in the Temple and the lifelong friendships she and Arvin made there. Arvin and Betty served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Fresno, California. The love of music has played a major role in Betty’s life having participated in many choirs and musical productions and blessing the lives of many through her talents. She was considered by all to be one of the hardest working individuals they have known, and her beautiful gardens, yard, and house were proof of that. Betty was trained at the Galt School of Nursing and enjoyed a satisfying career serving others in that capacity.

Although small in stature, Betty’s heart and love for others knew no bounds. Her life has been one of genuine concern and service to her many friends and family. However, above all, she and Arvin’s legacy to their family will be uncompromising obedience, faith, and love for our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday February 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints WELLING CHAPEL, Highway 5, Welling AB.
