EDITH MARGARET (PASOLLI) ANDRE, of Champion, born on May 15, 1927 in Hardieville to the late Maria Pasolli and the late Evaristo Pasolli, passed away at age 91 on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in Lethbridge.

BUTLER

It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of THOMAS C. BUTLER, of Coutts, with his loving devoted wife by his side at Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge, on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the age of 74 years.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Carlyn Ann (McLaggan); son Sean (Shelly) and daughters Lisa (Robert) and Annie (Bryan); and his adored grandchildren: Nash, Preston, Jett, Teagan and Scarlett (Sean & Shelly); Jake, Siranda and Olivia (Lisa & Robert); Jenna, Kohl, and Nickolas (Bryan); his immediate family, Mary Butler, Susan and Jack Butler and Michael Butler; as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie & Cecilia Butler.

Tom was born March 28, 1945 in Newcastle NB, his greatest love and devotion was to his cherished family and especially his grandchildren. As a young lad, Tom liked to play hockey and help out on the family farm. He moved to Toronto as a young man but returned to the Miramichi to win the heart of Carlie McLaggan in a poker game. The pair moved out west, tying the knot in New Westminster BC. They moved around Alberta a lot before finally settling in the Village of Coutts with their three children.

Tom will forever be remembered as an active member of his community he loved, the Village of Coutts and would go on to build many of the houses and businesses in town. He was proud of the many parks and improvements he made to the Village (Spray Park, Water Project, Border gate/walkway, Beautification Project). As Mayor of Coutts (2008-2019), he took pride in his community and was proud to serve its citizens. One of his proudest accomplishments was his contribution to the Prairie Rose Lodge.

Tom worked as a contractor and long haul truck driver, his true passions were politics and golf, he enjoyed volunteering for the PC Party of Alberta serving as President of the Taber-Warner PC Party Constituency for two terms.

Tom’s family is grateful to the Coutts Fire and Rescue and the staff of the Chinook Regional Hospital for their care and compassion. A special thank you to Dr. Krog and the medical staff at the Milk River Heath Centre.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Hwy 4 – 345 – 3 St. W, Coutts, AB, on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 3:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M., with Reverend Marion Martin officiating. Luncheon to follow at the Coutts Civic Centre.

ROSS HYNES, beloved husband of Bev Hynes (née Skinner) of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the age of 74 years.

Ross is the loving father to Gordon (Margie) Hynes of Burlington, ON, Wayne (Ulli) Hynes of Germany and Jamie Hynes of Victoria, BC. He is survived by his four grandchildren, Megann, Matthew, Jonah and Justin Hynes, as well as his two brothers, Hap “John” and Gord Hynes, his sister, Maureen Madore and all of their families. He is also fondly remembered by his mother-in-law, Jenny Skinner, his sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Cyril Hubbard and family and by Gordon and Wayne’s mother, Bernie Wirth.

He is predeceased by his brother, Jim Hynes.

A Private Family Service will be held in Lake McGillivray, ON at a later date.

Jean Wilma Leippy, nee Hille, 87, passed away March 30, 2019 at St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge, AB. She is survived by her son Lloyd and her daughter Sharon (Dahlseide) and was predeceased by her husband Julian and her children: sons John and Wayne, and daughter Leona. There will be a committal service in Weyburn, Saskatchewan at Hillcrest Cemetery on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The Dedication of the Grave will be performed by Dale Regnier.

She loved to laugh.

SHEARER, David Ian

January 11th, 1935 – March 29th, 2019 (Age 84)

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, dad and grandpa on March 29th, 2019 at the Westlock hospital.

David leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife Leona, children Scott (Loretta), Kim, Jen (Tyson), Leslie (Jim), Brian, Judi (Dave) grandchildren Emersyn, Jason, Robert, Leah, Logan, Victoria, Carl, Steven, Nicole, ten great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Doris along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Delmer and Alice Shearer, brothers Lyle (Peggy), Don (Vilda), Robert “Bob” Sr., and sister Carole (Zenon Hnatiw).

Cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held at the Fawcett Community Hall on April 26th, 2019 at 2:00pm with lunch to follow. A second celebration of life will be held in southern Alberta at a later date. Our sincere thank you goes out to Dr. Mydeen and the staff of the Westlock Healthcare Centre. WILMA MEINDERTSMA

Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.”

Wilma Meindertsma, beloved wife of Martin Meindertsma, went to meet her Savior on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the age of 64.

She will be greatly missed by all her family who loved her dearly. Her children and grandchildren: David & Vala, Aiden, and Emma Meindertsma; Jolene & Robert. Ian, Janessa, and Emily Lawrence. Her parents, Willem & Diny Hummel, and her brothers Luke (Lammie) Hummel, Albert (Ellen) Hummel, William Hummel, Bryan (Wendy) Hummel, Jim (Carol) Hummel, Tim (Benita) Hummel, and her sister-in-law Sheila (Jim) Choles.

She was also loved by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Wilma was predeceased by her baby brother Quincy Hummel, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Siebe and Sippy Meindertsma, and her dear granddaughter Makenna Meindertsma.

Wilma was born in Vulcan, Alberta and raised in the area of Nobleford, Alberta. In 1975, she married Martin Meindertsma, and made Granum her home. She was an active member of the Granum Christian Reformed Church, until she moved with her husband to Westlock in 2015. Since arriving in Westlock, she faithfully attended the Westlock Alliance Church.

A memorial service was held March 29, 2019 at the Westlock Alliance Church. Interment to follow at a later date at the Granum Cemetery.
