Rafik Cassis

1956 – 2019

Mr. Rafik Cassis of Lethbridge, beloved son of Dr. and Mrs. Gamil Cassis, passed away in his home on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the age of 62 years. Rafik was born in Cario, Egypt in 1956. In 1973 he moved to Canada and in 1980 Rafik graduated with a degree in chemistry from the University of Lethbridge. He worked as a chemist for a number of years before retiring. Besides his loving parents Dr. and Mrs. Gamil Cassis, Rafik is survived by his sister Dr. Mona (David Cavilla) Cassis of Lethbridge; brother Rashed (Diane) Cassis of Edmonton; nieces and nephews Joey and Jasmine Cavilla of Lethbridge and Chris and Laura Cassis of Edmonton; uncles Nabil, Rawhy, Dr. Awny Cassis and their families as well as aunts Celine and Emily Cassis and their families. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Father Kevin Tumback, celebrant. A Graveside Service will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

FERRIS

ROBERT “KOKANEE BOB” FERRIS, beloved husband of Dianne Setoguchi, passed away peacefully at home, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the age of 79 years.

Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years Dianne Setoguchi, brother Jim (Lois) and Wayne (Lana) Ferris, as well as numerous stepchildren, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Bob was born July 21, 1939. Bob was a master at storytelling, colorful jokes, making friends, and creating memorable good times with everyone around him. He was down to earth and lover of small town prairie life. Bob’s generous heart and mean cooking skills will be greatly missed. He lived a full life well lived.

A Celebration of Life will be held at COALHURST LEGION, 5205 – 6 Street, Coalhurst, AB, on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., as well as at KEHO LAKE on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2:00 P.M.

Gerarda “Gerda” Grisnich

1960 – 2019

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. On Friday, June 14, 2019, after a brief battle with brain cancer, the Lord in His infinite wisdom called home to Himself Gerarda (Gerda) Johanna Grisnich of Picture Butte, at the age of 58. Gerda was the beloved mother to Alexandra Van Zanten, daughter to Alice Grisnich, and sister to Suzanna and Henk Van Rhee, and Raymond and Elly Grisnich. Gerda was a cherished aunt to John and Carla Van Rhee (Joel, Emery), Rachel and Bart Schuiling, Derek and Jessica Van Rhee (Logan), Alyssa Van Rhee, Jennifer Grisnich, Larissa Grisnich, Raylene Grisnich and David Aleman, Raymond Grisnich Jr., Jeremy Grisnich, Amber Grisnich, Aundrea Grisnich, and Shelly-Anne Grisnich. She was predeceased by her beloved father, Reyer Grisnich. Although Gerda will be sadly missed by her family and friends, we rest and rejoice in the comfort that she is now in glory with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who was her constant comfort through her many struggles. As a family we would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Lethbridge Regional Hospital, the Foothills Neurology Unit, and St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit, for such amazing care.

Condolences will be held between 7:30pm and 8:30pm on Monday, June 17, 2019 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPELS, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the BETHEL FREE REFORMED CHURCH OF MONARCH, 6 Eastman Road, Monarch, Alberta, with Reverend Eric Moerdyk, officiating.

DORINE M. SCOTT, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the age of 90 years.

Dorine is survived by her three daughters: Jan (David) Smith, Iris (Larry) Blowers and Ruth White; grandchildren Joy-Ann Smith, Carol-Lynn (Doug) Henke; Amy Blowers, Scott (Amy Beth) Blowers, Ariana Blowers, Kent Blowers; Amanda (Clinton) Cervo and Ella White; and great-granddaughter Meghan.

Dorine was predeceased by her husband John; son-in-law Darrell and granddaughters Kate and Amber.
