Bulls down the Dawgs

The Lethbridge Bulls battled back from a lopsided loss to defeat the
Western Division leaders.
The Bulls hung on to down the Okotoks Dawgs in Western Canadian
Baseball League play Friday night at Spitz Stadium.
The win against the division-leading Dawgs (14-5) improves the Bulls
to 11-8 following a 13-1 loss to the Medicine Hat Mavericks Thursday
as Bulls first baseman Kaleb Warden batted 4-for-5 and chipped in with
five RBI.
On Friday, the Bulls scored once in the first inning and added four
more in the second inning for a 5-1.
The Dawgs scored three in their half of the third inning to cut the
lead to 5-4, but the Bulls pulled away for good with two runs in the
fourth and fifth innings and one more in the sixth for a 10-4 lead.
Okotoks made the hosts sweat it out a bit with four runs in the eighth
to make it 10-8, but Bulls closer Evan O’Toole worked the last one
and two-thirds innings to close out the game and earn the save,
allowing one run on two hits, walking two and striking out one.
The Bulls outhit the Dawgs 14-10 with Lethbridge’s Warden and Ashton
Roy supplying eight of those. Warden now has 22 RBI this season.
Roy was 4-for-5 with one run scored, while Brett Mercier 2-for-5 wiht
one run scored.
Leadoff hitter Robert Bostedt was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two
RBI.
Bulls starter Dylan Steen earned the win, throwing five innings and
giving up four runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out three.
Lethbridge is on the road for three straight games. They are in
Okotoks tonight and Sunday and head to Edmonton Monday to play the
Prospects.
They are back home Wednesday against the Fort McMurray Giants at 7:05
p.m.
