PAXMAN

ELLEN LOUISE PAXMAN peacefully slipped from this world Sept 13 2019, surrounded by loving family, to join her dear husband and other loved ones who have gone before. Ellen was born April 14,1929 in Cardston, Alberta to Canada and Louise Sommerfeldt. Most of her preteen years were spent in her beloved Waterton Lakes National Park. The family lived during the summers in a cabin along Cameron Creek by Oil City and moved in the winters to the Waterton town site. The family moved to Vancouver the year she turned 13 and there she graduated from high school and then from normal school. She taught grades one, two and three in a one roomed schoolhouse in Abbotsford BC. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Grant Paxman, and they bought a farm in the Glenwood area where they raised their family. Besides being an incredible mother and grandmother and a hardworking farmer’s wife, she served in many positions in her church. Perhaps her favourite service was as the 11- Year Old Scout leader which she did for many years, touching the lives of many boys. Many of her friends and neighbours were blessed by her caring, compassionate nature. She will be greatly missed by her children Marvin (Erika) Paxman, Betty Lou (Rex) Forsyth, Susan Scully, Elbert (Dianne) Paxman, Corinne (Scott) Bonsteel; 28 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren. As a family we are so grateful for the staff at Legacy Lodge in Lethbridge. Their kind care through the past seven years and especially through the last two weeks has been a blessing.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glenwood, Alberta on Friday, September 20th at 11:00 am. Friends may meet the family from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment to follow at the Glenwood Cemetery.
