HERMAN BOESSENKOOL of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the age of 79 years.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 1:30 P.M. with Patrick Siedlecki officiating.

ROBERT “BOB” DEAN GRAHAM, 83, beloved husband of Ruth Gehmlich, passed away in Texas on September 4th, 2019. A Memorial Service will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Knight Street Chapel in Raymond on Saturday, September 21st at 10:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family at the Church from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment to follow at the Temple Hill Cemetery.

HERTER, Evelyn Victoria

Family of Evelyn Herter is sad to announce her passing at the age of 86. Born September 20, 1932 in Coalhurst Alberta. Attending Rolling Hills School up to grade 9, when she started working at Purity Dairy. Evelyn enjoyed attending local dances and this is where she met the love of her life Ben, who was the banjo player in the band. Evelyn and Ben married October 4, 1952 and went on to have 5 children. They were married for 66 years and retired in the town of Coaldale. The last few years of Evelyn’s life she spent in care at the Coaldale Health Center where she passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on September 12, 2019. Evelyn is survived by her adoring husband Benjamin, her son Gerald Herter from Calgary, daughters Colleen Knorr (Joe) from Edmonton, Karen Trites (Barry) from Leduc, and son David Herter (Debbie) from New Mexico. She will also be fondly remembered by her sister Beth Walker and brother Walter Travalia, both in Lethbridge. She is proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn is predeceased by her parents Florence and Pietro Travalia, brother Bill Travalia, and daughter Sharon Morland. A Funeral Service will be held at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 – 13 St N, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday September 19, 2019 at 11:00 am. Mr. Harold “Bud” Hudson of Lethbridge passed away at St. Therese Villa on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the age of 95 years. KENNETH ERNEST HUDSON 1923 – 2019

Ken Hudson, beloved husband of Ruth Hudson, passed away at the Raymond Health Centre on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the age of 96 years. Ken is survived by his wife, Ruth (Riethman), daughters Susan (Ernie) Hendricks, Sharon (Bill) Ferby, Nancy (Dave) Berlando, Deb (Bob) Hansen, Linda (Dave) Baines, Marilyn Smith (Barry Mehew), son Jim (Elaine) Hudson as well as 34 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren. Ken was predeceased by his son Steven (Heather) Hudson, his parents Roy & Ella, his brother Harry and sisters Hazel Waite and Edna McFarland. Ken was born in London, Ontario in 1923. He was a World War 2 Navy veteran and served his country from 1943 to 1945. He was a very successful and well-respected business owner with Riethman & Hudson Decorating. He was active in his community and held many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved camping, hunting and was passionate about horses, especially Tennessee Walkers. Ken loved and was deeply loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends who will miss him very much. The family extends their sincere thanks to Dr. Ken Dahl and the staff at the Raymond Health Centre for their devoted care. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday September 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, WELLING CHAPEL. Family and friends are invited to meet the family at SALMON & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Otsuka

October 11, 1916 to Sept 16,2019

Ayako (Kaye) Otsuka has taken off on her final journey, Sept 16, 2019 with no return ticket.

She leaves behind her daughter, Neva (Sut) Oishi; granddaughters, Kara (Eric) Coffey, Joelle (Tyler) Thornhill; grandson, Craig (Karen) Oishi; and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Lauren Oishi, Elise and Claire Coffey, Nolan and Akemi Thornhill. Survived by nephews and nieces, especially Ken (Sharron) Moriyama and Jackie (Barrie) Robb. Will be missed by her dear friend Rev. Aldeen McKay

Predeceased by parents, Torao and Asa Amemori; brother, Mitsuo (Kikue) Amemori; sisters, Tomiko (Fred) Imakire, Akiko (Gus) Moriyama, Kinko (Tucker) Hironaka and Chieko (Jack) Nishiyama.

Ayako was born in Port Moody BC, grade school in BC, Highschool in Japan and bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge. She and her family were evacuated from the west coast, transplanted into Alberta, and started a new life. She worked from sugar beet farms to a house keeper, then to clerk, and then to a book keeper where she eventually retired. She taught Japanese for many years and continued to help Japanese immigrants from Japan. She travelled around the world in later years, took up golf, clogging, tai chi, art, computers. She not only learned computers, she taught computers for years. Art was the love of her life. She taught various forms of art way into her 90’s. She has won many honors and awards and was admired by many. Kaye was also a long standing member of the Japanese United Church. She lived a remarkable life through trials and tribulations.

There will be a celebration of life memorial on Saturday Sept. 21, 11am at Mckillop United Methodist Church followed by meet the family in the reception area.

Mom requested no flowers or koden. She cared for the homeless and street children. She would appreciate your donation going to Streets Alive, 323 4th Street S. PHILLIPS

EILEEN PHILLIPS, beloved wife of the late Wayne Phillips, passed away on Sunday September 15, 2019 at the age of 94 years after a short battle with cancer. Eileen was born January 28, 1925 in Raymond, Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne, her parents Lemual and Annie Adams, sisters Verda Adams and Elna Brady (Jack); brothers Merrill (Margaret), Allen (Bertha), Ray (Velma) and Reid; brother-in-law Elwin Miller; daughters-in-law Lorna Phillips and Wendy Phillips and grandson Michael Phillips. Eileen is survived by her sons; Robert (Sharon), Gordon (Brenda) and Maurice; 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and by her Brother Donald (Renae) and her sister Marion Miller. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, RAYMOND STAKE CENTRE (2 North 200 West, Raymond AB). Friends may meet the family at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in Temple Hill Cemetery.

HORST ALBERT SCHUETZ of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the age of 83 years.

Horst is survived by his son Glenn Schuetz who lives in Germany. He is predeceased by his wife Malvina Schuetz.

Horst was born in Berlin, Germany in 1936 and later emigrated to Canada. He had many friends in southern Alberta and he will be greatly missed.

At Horst’s request, no funeral service will be held.
