Anna “Anne” Lilly

1922 – 2019

Mrs. Anna “Anne” Maria Elin Lilly of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Charlie Lilly, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Anne was a loving grandmother to Todd (Lyndsay) Walcott and Jackie (Bryce) Steeves and their children. She leaves to mourn her daughter in law Vicie (Tedd) Walcott. Besides her loving husband Charlie, Anne was predeceased by her son Robert. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am, on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at UNIVERSITY DRIVE ALLIANCE CHURCH, 55 Columbia Boulevard West, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Scott Dixon, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne’s name to Gideons Bible Society, P.O Box 3619 Station Main, Guelph, Ontairo, N1H 9Z9

LYNN

CAROLYN LYNN, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the age of 80 years.

She is survived by her four daughters: Lorna (Bill) Lazaruk, Kathy Lynn, Eileen (Ian) Colquhoun and Carla (Murray) Parenteau; four grandchildren: Jamie (Dannielle) Lazaruk, Kara (Evan) Beaton, Phoebe Colquhoun, Rory Colquhoun and adopted grandson Micheal Lazaruk. She is also survived by four great- grandchildren Harlynn and Journee Lazaruk and Nova and Veda Beaton. She is also survived by her brother Cameron (Maureen) Laing and sister Elaine (Ian) Sunderland and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents and husband John.

Born on October 21, 1939 to parents Blanche and William Laing in Lethbridge – Carolyn graduated from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and went on to obtain her teaching certificate in Calgary. Carolyn married John Lynn in 1959 and they would have four daughters – Lorna, Kathy, Eileen and Carla. Carolyn was a proud stay-at-home mom until Carla started school when she then returned to work as a school teacher and later teachers’ assistant for the Catholic Separate School System. Carolyn enjoyed her work in the schools and was especially proud when she taught children whose parents she knew when they were growing up. Carolyn also enjoyed the comradery of the teaching staff and the “Birthday Club” dinners and coffee dates outside of school hours. In her spare time, Carolyn enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for her family including her four grandchildren who always liked to lend a helping hand.

Carolyn enjoyed travelling to visit family – her sister Elaine in Victoria, daughter Carla in Edmonton, daughter Eileen and children in Bolton, Ontario, brother Cameron in Kingston, Ontario and daughter Kathy in Florida and nine summers in California. While in California, Carolyn enjoyed the local beach every morning, walks in the Marina, special days in Malibu, trips to Disneyland and San Diego and to San Francisco and the wineries. She also visited Las Vegas where she took in the shows and even tried her hand at the slot machines. In 2009, Carolyn and Kathy enjoyed an amazing three week tour of New Zealand and Australia.

Later that year, the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease would begin to erode Carolyn’s independence and she was fortunate to have amazing neighbors’ Ila Rae and Jim and John and Todd to assist the family in maintaining her home life and yard. As the disease progressed, Donna Jo and Mary B assisted Kathy in maintaining Carolyn in her home but in the Spring of 2011, Carolyn was moved to Fairmont Extendicare where she received loving care from her primary care giver Maritza and other staff. She was later transferred to Edith Cavell Care Centre where she again received thoughtful care which was extended to her daughters during the time leading up to her death. During her time at Edith Cavell, Mrs. Van Ryan provided Carolyn companionship, reading to her and enjoying music with her. Thanks also to Dr. Cahill and associates at Family Medical Centre in Lethbridge.

The Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Saturday, November 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Blood Band Cemetery.

Catherine “Cathy” Van Lent

1960 – 2019

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Catherine Van Lent announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, October 26, 2019 after a brief but heroic battle with cancer. A Memorial Mass in Cathy’s honour will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, November 1, 2019 at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Coaldale, Alberta, 1513 – 23 Avenue, Coaldale, Alberta, with Father Ian Gagne, Celebrant.

WILLIAMS

On the afternoon of October 25, 2019, Robert (Bob) Kerry Williams of Sherwood Park, AB passed away at the age of 67. Bob was born to Walter and Winnie Williams in Edmonton in 1951. He graduated from Bonnie Doon Composite in 1969. In May 1976 he married Sharlette Plato and together they raised 3 children Jana, Brandon and Taylor. Bob worked in the steel manufacturing industry for 40 years. He started in sales in Calgary at TruForm Building Products and continued on to a management career at Canadian Steel Manufacturing in Calgary, then Burnaby. Bob was transferred to the Edmonton office in 2001. He worked as the branch manager of Bailey Metal Products (formerly CSM and Corus Metal Products) until his retirement in 2012. Bob was an avid curler and loving father and Papa. He was known for his great sense of humour and kindness among his friends. Bob is preceded in death by his father Walter, mother Winnie, brothers Kenneth and Baby Williams. He is survived by his wife Sharlette, his children Jana (Adam), Brandon-Adelaide,AU, Taylor (Phil), grandson Kayden, siblings Gary (Lee), Gail, Dale (Elaine), and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bob also leaves behind his beloved dog Polly. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on November 2nd 2019, at Muir Lake Community Hall (53424 HWY 779, Stony Plain, AB).
