HELMER

MARGARET “MEG” HELMER, beloved wife of the late John Helmer, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with her devoted daughter by her side at St Michael’s Health Centre, on Wednesday, December 5, 2019 at the age of 99 years, one month short of her 100th birthday.

Meg was born January 5, 1920 in Lanarkshire, Scotland. She immigrated to Canada with her family when she was eight years old. She was the youngest and last surviving child of James and Margaret Orr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter Elsie Grey and always teasing, her son-in-law Reg Prawdzik as well as Reg’s family and numerous nieces and nephews.

Meg was predeceased by her beloved husband John (1968), much loved son-in-law Brian Grey (2003), three brothers and two sisters.

Meg was a kind and gentle lady and will be missed by all who knew her. At her request, a private family graveside service was held.

HENDERSON

EMILY MARY HENDERSON, beloved wife of the late John Paul Henderson of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the age of 104 years.

Emily is survived by her children: Emily (Art Cave) Brookwell, John (Faye) Henderson, Dorothy (Ken Salter) Christensen, Mary (Paul Hynes) Henderson, Susan Barwise as well as ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband John, son Robert, second husband Jim Hallet, son-in-laws Gerry Brookwell and John Christensen and her grandson Terrence Werschke.

Emily was born in Hardieville on March 2, 1915 to Fred and Rosalie Trehub. Her family later moved to Coutts, where she met her husband John. They were married on March 12, 1940. In 1951, they settled in Lethbridge where they raised their family.

Emily volunteered for many years at Catholic Charities Clothes Bank where she walked to work in all seasons in order to help the needy. She was a long time member of the Assumption C.W.L. Emily was a very prayerful woman with a deep love of God.

Emily will lovingly be remembered and deeply missed by all her family as well as many nieces and nephews

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Albert Sayson celebrating.

Ross Allan McCune

February 13, 1934 – December 3, 2019

Ross passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the age of 85 with his wife Addy by his side and surrounded by family. Ross grew up on a farm near Disley, Saskatchewan. At 15 years of age, he left the farm and went to work in Regina, first in the construction industry and then to the dairy industry where he worked for 40 years beginning in Regina, Saskatchewan, transferring to Lethbridge, Alberta and finishing his career in Calgary, Alberta. He met his wife Addy in Regina while he was delivering milk to her place of work. They were married in 1958 and would go on to be married for over 61 years. Ross loved to curl, play golf, go fishing, and in retirement was known to have a “friendly” game of Rummy every morning with Addy. Throughout his life he was also involved in the Elks Club, the Masons and The Shriners where he would go to numerous parades in North America and help raise money for the Shriners Hospitals. He was a loving and supportive father, grandfather and uncle traveling to watch his family no matter the activity – softball, football, baseball, track, soccer, triathlon, basketball, squash, curling, volleyball, piano recitals, or whatever they were involved in – he was there for them cheering them on. He was loved dearly by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Blanche McCune; brothers, Edward (Bernice), Gordon (Edna), Norman and Kenneth; sisters, Dorothy (Art and Joe), Margaret (Lionel), Edna (Chuck and Vestervig), Sadie (Vic) and Florence (William). He is lovingly missed by his wife, Addy; children, Pat (Fae) McCune, Kathy (Tobi) McCune, Karen (Russ) MacKay, and Nancy (Dave) McCune; grandchildren, Carly (Beau), Todd, Ben and Taylor; great-grandchildren Rex and Blake; and siblings, Myrtle Smith, Elsie (John) Collins, Roy (Angie) McCune and Gladys (Don) Grant; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Society Park Meadows with a special thanks to the caregivers in Cottage 1. Flowers are gratefully declined. NOBLE

BRYAN ANDREW NOBLE, beloved husband of Carol Noble, of Nobleford, passed away at home, on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the age of 68 years.

It has been a great joy to be with Bryan in the playground of life.

Bryan was born July 1, 1951 in Lethbridge AB, to his beloved parents Lillian and Gerald Noble, the youngest sibling of Eleanor Lind and Charles Noble, who were not only family but lifelong friends and trusted confidants.

Bryan and Carol, the love of his life, met at 14 years of age and journeyed throughout this lifetime together. Side by side they traveled Mexico in a VW van, through the Rocky Mountains on his Triumph motorcycles, and on foot in Waterton Lakes National Park and the West Coast Trail.

In the late 1970’s in pursuit of higher education, he moved to Vancouver BC where he received an Honours English degree from Simon Fraser University. He had a vast understanding of Greek mythology, Irish playwrights, German poets and a lifelong interest in literature.

After receiving his degree, he moved back to Alberta and chose to begin a career in farming on the land that he and his brother Charles purchased east of Barons AB. Inheriting a passion for farming and conservation of the land from his grandfather and father, Bryan practiced continuous cropping and zero tillage for over 30 years.

Bryan’s love for and pride in his children was unquestionable and always clearly expressed. This love and pride were reciprocated by his children Jayne Baun (Justin), Andrea Noble and Michael Noble (Jessica) and grandchildren Betty Baun, Bowin Baun and Pace Noble. Pets, especially dogs, were also considered an important part of the family. Bryan never met a dog he didn’t like.

Sports and fitness played a huge role in Bryan’s life. He played baseball, hockey, basketball, skied, hiked, weight lifted and ran. He coached little league baseball in Barons and shared this love of sports with the youth. Ever the proponent for the underdog he was a faithful lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Go Leafs Go!

Bryan loved to ride his motorcycles, especially enjoying annual rides with friends and family at Nelson’s Triumph Rat Raid where he was proud to be accepted as a member of the “Blue Meanies International”.

Bryan was excited for the future, collecting British motorcycles from the past and planning new adventures with Carol, joyfully mentoring the next generation as they took leadership roles on the farm, and continuing his ever supportive role as the lives of his children and grandchildren unfolded.

His legacy will be the seeds of kindness he sowed that will now germinate and expand into a bountiful eternal harvest of love in all our hearts.

A Celebration of Bryan’s life will be held at the NOBLEFORD COMMUNITY COMPLEX (The Blue Whale), 122 Kipp Street, Nobleford, AB, on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

VIRGINILLO

MARIO VIRGINILLO, of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly at home, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the age of 62 years.

As per Mario’s wishes, there will be no formal Funeral Service.
