The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns track and field team leaps into the indoor season this weekend.
The Horns are in Edmonton for the Golden Bear Open today and are looking to set the bar on a new medal total this season.
A year ago the Pronghorns took home eight Canada West medals and three U SPORTS medals and have a good mix of returning medallists.
The women’s side is led by fourth-year jumper/sprinter Sandra Latrace, who will look to continue to add to her impressive Pronghorn career.
Last year, she won gold at the Canada West and U SPORTS Championships in the long jump and 60-metre events and added a Canada West triple jump silver.
Throwers will headline the men’s side. Two-time U SPORTS medallist Andreas Troschke and former Canada West gold medallist Ben Ingvaldson highlight a group of throwers that could see as many as six Pronghorns crack the U SPORTS Top 10 after this weekend.
The Canada West Championships will be hosted by the University of Saskatchewan, Feb. 20-22.
