Wrestlers grab hold of medals in Edmonton

The Lethbridge Wrestling Association sent a contingent of athletes to the 2020 Golden Bear Invitational tournament in Edmonton last weekend.

A total of 29 local representatives hit the mat with some newer members turning in medal performances.

Representing LCI in the high school ranks, Dakota Smith, Ethan Boehme, Daniel Wetterstrand, Cole Pitcher and Jada Bester each won gold medals, while Milly Wood took home silver.

Sophie Strong, Parker Leavitt and Briggs Butler won bronze and Rawley Selk placed sixth.

Chinook’s Angelina Ellis-Toddington won gold and schoolmates Brantley Saar and Justin Bennett won silver and bronze, respectively. Autumn Carter took sixth place.

Hayden Devoy on Catholic Central won silver and John Winchester turned in a sixth place performance.

For Winston Churchill, Katelynn Teyke came in fourth place and Mackenzie Midgley was sixth.

The local club earned a trio of gold medals in the junior high ranks, those coming from Ryder Lowry, Blessing Diyaolu and Emmy Selk.

Nolan Gobeil and Payton Shields came home with silver medals and Mattias Forsberg, Solomon Prenevost and Reese Ferguson won bronze.

Sol Brewerton earned a fourth place performance and Max Brewerton was sixth
