The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s volleyball team went the distance for their fifth win of the season.
The Kodiaks fired off three straight set wins on their way to a 3-2 win over the Medicine Hat Rattlers in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference play Friday night at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium.
With the win the Kodiaks are 5-14 with five games left in the season as the teams go back at it in the rematch tonight in Medicine Hat at 6 p.m.
On Friday, the Kodiaks fell behind 2-0 before winning the third set 25-18 and the fourth set 26-24. Lethbridge closed out the comeback with a 15-11 win in the fifth set.
Mack Lewicki and Jamie Brown hammered 12 and 11 kills and 14 and 11 digs, respectively. Lewicki also had three service aces.
Sarah Hazen added 16 kills for Lethbridge and Johanna Dixon had six service aces.
In the men’s game, Carter Hansen led the Kodiaks with 13 kills and Tony Albizzati added 10 and seven digs and two service aces as Lethbridge posted a 3-0 win to improve to 16-3.
Zach Wikenheiser chipped in with eight digs.
The win puts the Kodiaks in a tie with the SAIT Trojans for first in the ACAC South Division. The Trojans have three games in hand.
The Kodiaks and Rattlers finish the weekend tonight in Medicine Hat at 8 p.m.
