The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns swim team was represented by a five-athlete contingent at the U SPORTS Championships hosted by the University of Victoria last weekend.
On the men’s side, Adam Stromberg, Tom Utas and Raine Arden put on the laps for the Horns, while Emilia Hesterman and Tricia Fair competed on the women’s side.
Stromberg entered the U SPORTS meet as the top-ranked Pronghorn, ranked sixth in the 50m freestyle and 21st in the 50m breaststroke.
In the 50m freestyle, Stromberg posted a time of 24.34 in the B final to take 15th, and made the C final in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 31.17, good for 23rd.
In the 50m freestyle, Utas made the C final and posted a time of 24.39 to take 20th.
Arden was ranked 25th in the 100m free heading into the weekend, making the B final and placing 11th with a time of 51.88.
Arden swam in the C final of the 200m free, notching a time of 1:50.46, good for 21st.
On the women’s side, Hesterman was ranked 10th in the 50m breaststroke and 19th in the 100m breast.
She made the B final in the 50m breast with a time of 34.22, good for 14th.
Fair placed in two B finals and one C final. In the 50m butterfly she made the B final and swam to a time of 29.01 to take 16th and also advanced to the B final in the 50m free, placing 16th with a time of 27.57.
Fair made the C final in the 100m fly and clocked in a time of 1:05.56, good for 23rd.
