Horns finishing Sevens Series

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns head into the final stop of the 2020 Canada West Sevens Series.

The Horns are in Victoria this weekend for the third weekend of the Seven Series are looking to move into the top-three.

Heading into the weekend the Pronghorns are in fourth in the series standings, but are only two points back of the UBC Thunderbirds.

The Pronghorns open the Victoria stop Saturday morning with a tilt against their provincial rival Calgary Dinos at 12:06, local time.

Lethbridge and Calgary have not faced each other in the previous two tournaments this season. The Dinos enter the final tournament in fifth place, five points behind the Pronghorns.

The Horns will face the UBCO Heat at 2:26 p.m. Horns beat the Heat, who are participating in their first season in sevens rugby, 41-0.

Lethbridge finishes the first day against the first-place Victoria Vikes, who are 10-0 in the series.

Sitting 12 points behind the Vikes, the Pronghorns are mathematically within reach of top spot, but it is unlikely Victoria will finish in the bottom two of the eight-team tournament.

During the first two stops of the series, the Pronghorns finished third in Edmonton and fourth in Vancouver, losing to the Alberta Pandas in the third-place game.

Pronghorns senior back Hailey Driscoll has led the Pronghorns in scoring through the first two tournaments with six tries. A pair of first-year Pronghorns are tied for second among Pronghorns with 25 points. Janelle Agot has recorded three tries and five converts and Rebecca Powell sits with five tries in 10 games.
