Canes clash with Oil Kings

After a week off the Lethbridge Hurricanes return to the ice tonight.
And a stiff test awaits them.
The Canes welcome the Western Hockey League Central Division-leading Edmonton Oil  Kings to the Enmax Centre at 7 p.m.  tonight.
It’s the first of two home games in 48 hours for the Hurricanes as the team hosts the Brandon Wheat Kings Saturday, also at 7 p.m.
Canes come into tonight’s game off an 8-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors last Friday, but will have to contend with the 40-10-6-3 Oil Kings who are 8-2-0-0 in their last 10 games.
That has opened up a 12-point lead over the 35-15-2-5 Hurricanes, who are second in the Central Division, four points up on the 35-19-2-1 Medicine Hat Tigers.
The Oil Kings drubbed the Winnipeg Ice 10-1 Tuesday night in Edmonton.
Edmonton is led by Riley Sawchuk, whose 23 goals and 72 points in 59 games has him in ninth place in league scoring.
Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens has cracked the top-five in league scoring 32 goals and 76 points in 45 games.
Lethbridge brings the fourth-best power play in the league into tonight’s game, clicking at 24.4 per cent.
The Oil Kings aren’t far behind in seventh place at 23.3 per cent.
Edmonton’s penalty kill is tops in the league at 87.6 per cent. The Canes are 13th at 77. 6 per cent.
In the season series, the Hurricanes hold a 2-1 lead.
They beat the Oil Kings 5-2 Sept. 27 in Edmonton and 4-3 in a shootout Nov. 8 at the Enmax Centre.
The Oil Kings got one back on the Family Day weekend via a 5-3 victory Feb. 18 in Edmonton.
