Midget AAA Hurricanes even series with Flames

Lethbridge Herald
The Lethbridge midget AAA Hurricanes have evened things up with the Calgary Flames.
The Canes blanked the Flames 3-0 in Game 2 of the teams’ second-round, Alberta Midget Hockey League series Friday night at the Logan Boulet Arena.
That guarantees the best-of-five series will go at least four games and gives the Hurricanes another home date when Game 4 comes back to the Logan Boulet Arena Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. following Game 3 in Calgary tonight.
On Friday, the Hurricanes scored once in each period and goaltender Ty Young stopped all 31 shots he faced to post the shutout.
Derrien Tonin scored in the first period and Colby Garner and Brody Tallman added goals in the second and third periods, respectively, to register the win.
The Flames outshot the Hurricanes 31-22.
Game time for Game 3 tonight in Calgary is 7:30 p.m.
If necessary, Game 5 will be in Calgary Friday at 7:30 p.m.
In Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League play, the Lethbridge Headwater midget 15 Hurricanes completed a three-game weekend by clinching second place in the South Division.
The Canes battled to a 3-3 tie with the Okotoks Oilers Sunday afternoon at the Logan Boulet Arena as the Oilers scored with 33 seconds remaining with the extra attacker.
Still, the tie allowed the Hurricanes to finish 25-5-7, one point ahead of the AC Avalanche — who the Canes tied 4-4 Saturday afternoon — for second place.
The playoffs begin Thursday in Calgary.
