Tylor Merrill and Leah Gibbings led the offence as the Cardston Cougars topped the W.R. Myers Rebels 82-51 in Southern Alberta High School Girls Basketball League play Wednesday night.
Merrill scored 24 points and Gibbings had 21 for the winners. Lauren Wolsey tossed in 14 points and Jill Eishman added 13.
Rachel Pack netted 11 points to lead the Rebels.
In the junior varsity game, Kiara Rabbit scored 12 points as Cardston scored a 51-41 victory. Nine different players hit the scoresheet for the winners.
Bryanne Jones led Myers with 17 points, and Darci Wright had 11.
In boys league play Tuesday night, the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Rams pulled away for an 80-64 victory over Winston Churchill.
Asher Bridge scored 14 points, Carter Johnson had 13 and Brady Van Bruggen added 12 for the Rams, who led 35-33 at halftime.
Tyreese Russell led the Bulldogs with 20 points, and Polo Los Banes scored 14.
In the junior game, Ty Nielsen and Crew Hirsche scored 27 and 25 points respectively in a 95-53 LCI victory.
Bridge added 20, Carson Procee scored 14 and Issac Olsen finished with 10 points.
Phillippe Martin and Ryker Morrell both scored 11 for Churchill while Manga Bukuru had 10.
DEEP SOUTH
Stirling Lakers held on to defeat Immanuel Christian Eagles in a tight Deep South Basketball Conference tilt Wednesday night.
Orin Smith scored 25 points as the Lakers scored a 78-74 victory. Ryder Nelson added 20 points for the winners and Ty Mazutinec had 18.
Jonathan Barwegen powered Immanuel Christian with 44 points and Shaun Boone added 13.
