Moonlight Run cancelled
Lethbridge
In an effort to help stop the spread of COVID-19, The Runners Soul Moonlight Run has been cancelled.
The 2020 race was scheduled to take place March 21.
“In light of (Thursday’s) announcement by the Alberta government we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Moonlight Run scheduled for March 21,” said race organizer Shawn Pinder in a release Thursday.
The Runners Soul Race Association cancellation decision followed an announcement by Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw, curtailing all large gatherings as part of the province’s aggressive CORVID-19 strategy.
The Runners Soul Moonlight Run is recognized as southern Alberta’s larger road race, attracting 2,500 participants and hundreds of more spectators.
All registered participants can expect an email early next week with details regarding the cancellation.
