Man facing charges after taxi driver robbed at knifepoint

Police have charge a 20-year-old male in connection with a knifepoint robbery of a Lethbridge taxi driver.

On Sunday just before midnight police responded to a report that a female taxi driver had been robbed. The subequent Lethbridge Police Service investigation determined the driver picked up a male fare from 7-Eleven along Columbia Boulevard West.

After driving him a short distance to his destination he held a knife to her throat and demanded cash. The driver yelled for help and a citizen in the area provided assistance in getting the subject away from her and chasing the suspect down to recover the money. The subject escaped pursuit but was arrested later when 7-Eleven staff called police after the suspect returned to the store at 4 a.m. on Monday. Further investigation determined the same subject had been involved in the theft of a purse from a vehicle prior to the robbery.

Taz Good Dagger, 20, of Standoff, is charged with robbery, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, theft under $5,000, and three counts of possession of identity documents. Good Dagger was released by a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to appear in court June 16.
