LETHBRIDGE HERALD

Lethbridge police have charged a 19-year-old woman in connection with a series of break and enters in the downtown area earlier this month.

On the evening of March 21, police responded to reports of break and enters at the following locations:

– HSBC bank building along the 800 block of 4 Avenue South. A rock was used to break the glass and a fire extinguisher was set off inside. Foot prints were left behind. Nothing was stolen.

– Melcor Centre (Lethbridge Centre Mall) along the 200 block of 4 Avenue South. A female was recorded on video surveillance attempting to force open the sliding doors by pulling and kicking at them. She did not gain entry but left foot prints on the door.

– Haig Clinic along the 600 block of 6 Street South. Entry was gained by breaking a southeast window. Nothing was stolen but foot prints were left behind.

– Park Place Mall along the 500 block of 1 Avenue South. A security officer monitoring closed-circuit TV observed a female throw a rock through the glass doors at the Winner’s entrance. The subject was confronted by security inside but fled through the broken door.

Upon police arrival at Park Place mall the security officer was able to point out the subject walking east along 1 Avenue South. She was subsequently arrested a short distance away. Following her arrest, the footwear impressions left at the previous break and enters were found to match the shoes the female was wearing.

Haley-Anne Trennery, 19, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts of shop break and enter and commit mischief and one count of attempted shop breaking. Trennery was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court June 10.
