Allan Bryant

1924 – 2020

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, Sydney Allan Bryant, at his home in the Good Samaritans Linden View, Taber on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the age of 96 years.  A private burial service will be held at the Enchant Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.   Allan is survived by his five children Ray (Jeanelle) Bryant of Taber, Sheryl Dyson of Lethbridge, Gary (Colleen) Bryant of Calgary, Darlene (Mike) Perkins of Calgary and Karen Bryant of Lethbridge. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one remaining brother Jerry Bryant of Ontario.  Allan was predeceased by his wife Elsie Bryant, son-in-law Mel Dyson, parents, one sister and six brothers. The family would like to thank all the staff at Linden View for their care that they gave Allan during his stay there.  Arrangements in care of Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber. Norm Chychota
1941 – 2020
Dr. Norman Ned Chychota, beloved husband of Diana Chychota, passed away in Taber on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the age of 79 years.

Fred Malcolm Myers

1924 – 2020

Fred Myers of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Irene Myers, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 95 years of age. Fred was born and raised in Ottawa to John and Elizabeth Myers. He quickly developed a passion for sports. which never left him. At 17 years of age, he joined the Navy, proudly serving his country on the Atlantic convoys for the duration of the war. It was there he learned to cuss and drink. Returning to Ottawa, he married the girl of his dreams and joined the National Film Board, serving as a senior manager for 35 years. His love of sports continued, coaching a number of successful hockey and football teams at the community level. He also developed a passion for golf, which continued into his 90’s. Fred was a dedicated fan of Ottawa sports team and a diehard believer in the Ottawa Senators. His interests were many and varied. He was a very good bridge player, loved puzzles, music and entertainment. He served on many boards and associations right into his 80’s. He touched many and will be fondly remembered by the staffs of Humptys, Draffins Pharmacy and especially his golf and coffee buddies. Fred is survived by his sister Lillian of Kansas; daughter Pat (Wayne) of Lethbridge; granddaughters Tara, Holly (Cameron), Kathleen (Dan), Ella (Brady), Alli, Lindsay (Jason) and Jody (David); great-grandchildren Ethan, Leah, Katelyn and Makena, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his loving wife of 68 years, Fred was predeceased by his parents; brother Alex; sisters Beth and Dorothy; son Frank; daughter Barb and granddaughter Tammy. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Inurnment with his loving wife Irene will take place in Ottawa.

SZABO

LARRY SZABO, beloved husband of Roz Szabo, passed away at Foothills Medical Centre on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the age of 69 years.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Selina (Ryan), Nikki (Dustan) as well as his grandchildren, whom he adored, Mason, Holden, Audy and Everett. He will also be missed by his sisters, Carol (Nels), Pat (George), Kathy (Decker), Judy (Dale), Janet, Wendy (Larry), as well as his best friend, Jerry Carter and many more friends and family.

After “growing up” in Stirling playing cat and mouse with the RCMP, he moved to Lethbridge. Here he married his ‘lady friend’, Roz, in 1976 and learned many trades working construction before joining the City of Lethbridge. He worked several departments within the City, making lifelong friends who always made sure he didn’t get lost in any alleys.

Larry had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in his garden and growing flowers. He was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a game his children or grandchildren played. Larry was a loving, friendly and generous person who would say hi to strangers, talk anyone’s ear off and loved his family – especially his grandchildren – who were the biggest joy in his life.

As a result of the government restrictions, we will be having a celebration of life at a later date. In memory of Larry, donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S (Box 570, Calgary, AB, T2E 8M7).
