Lethbridge Police have charged a 27-year-old man with assaulting a peace officer after they say he intentionally coughed in the officer’s face.
On April 2, 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m. police were called to a report of a domestic assault at a residence. Police attended a northside home and upon investigation discovered a male was in breach of the conditions of a release order. The male was taken into custody and during the course of his arrest coughed directly into the officer’s face and told him he hoped he’d get infected. The male admitted he had been exposed to a person who had been quarantined.
A 27-year-old Lethbridge man is charged with assaulting a peace office and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
