As we head into the Easter long weekend, additional precautions have been put in place across the City to promote physical distancing, deter mass gatherings and prevent the possible transmission of COVID-19.
Effective immediately, the following City recreation amenities are closed.
These amenities will be closed until further notice. Wherever possible, these sites will be locked and signs will be installed informing the public.
Even if the amenity is not signed or locked, the City strongly encourages residents to refrain from any of these outdoor recreation activities at this time. Every measure we can take to flatten the curve and protect the health of our community is incredibly important at this time.
Residents are reminded that all park amenities remain closed including:
ยท playground equipment
Members of the same household may use unoccupied greenspaces in parks or City pathways but must always stay at least two metres apart from anyone who is not part of the same household.
Picnics and group gatherings are not permitted at this time and there is a fire ban in effect for the river valley.
Golf courses can open if they are adhering to the stringent regulations outlined by Alberta Health Services to maintain physical distancing and limit the possibility of any COVID-19 transmission.
Residents are asked to pay close attention to the restrictions in place. This will help us get through this challenging time as quickly as possible. If the regulations are being ignored or abused, additional closures and enforcement can be implemented.
