Ft. Vermillion man facing numerous charges remanded

A Fort Vermillion man facing numerous charges, including the theft of hay bales from Pincher Creek earlier this year, is expected to deal with some of his charges when he returns to court next week.
Jessie Hugh Flett, who is in custody at the Edmonton Remand Centre, made a brief appearance in Lethbridge provincial court Thursday but was remanded until Monday when his matter will be heard again.
Lethbridge lawyer Greg White told court he’s having difficulty talking to his client while he is in Edmonton, and said he had left several messages with ERC authorities but they never returned his call. White was finally able to talk with Flett Thursday when he appeared in court by closed-circuit TV.
Flett, 33, faces dozens of charges including possession of stolen property, mischief over $5,000, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, drug possession, alter/destroy/remove a vehicle identification number, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
RCMP reported Jan. 6 that officers found at a residence near Brocket bales of hay that had been stolen from Pincher Creek. Police searched a home and arrested one man without incident. During a subsequent search of property, officers seized 14 firearms, a large amount of ammunition and methamphetamine. They also found a truck that was reported stolen out of Pincher Creek earlier that morning.
