Tudor says thanks with cowbells

Lethbridge needs more cowbell, says Shanda McKnight of the Tudor Estates Association, and she and her fellow association members want to fill that need by providing the distinctive noisemakers to anyone who wants to cheer on our frontline workers during this COVID-19 outbreak.
“Our neighbourhood started a few weeks ago inviting the neighbours to come outside at 7 p.m. every Wednesday, and make noise to celebrate the work of the frontline workers,” she explains. “People are usually out there with pots and pans, bells and horns. And we thought why not provide another instrument for them to celebrate, encourage those frontline workers, and make some money in order to provide relief for those who are being affected by the pandemic.
“We have ordered in a whole bunch of cowbells, and on them it says, ‘Tudor Gives Thanks.’ And on the back, ‘COVID-19 2020.’”
The cowbells were the brainchild of the association’s president Jenna Friesen and are now available at a cost of $10 each or you can purchase three for $25.
McKnight, whose father Dwayne was a longtime firefighter and fire prevention officer in Lethbridge, says the money will be donated to help local food banks.
Those wishing to purchase the custom cowbells can email tudorestatesassociation@gmail.com to arrange pick up and drop off.
They are also being distributed at Tudor Park each Wednesday between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
McKnight hopes to encourage more Lethbridge residents to make some noise for frontline workers every Wednesday evening.
“It’s a great way to celebrate what they’re doing,” she says.
