LETHBRIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY – READ ON ADULT LEARNING AND ESL PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS
The Lethbridge Public Library’s (LPL) Read On Program relies on adult volunteers to tutor adult students one-on-one or in small groups. The LPL requires volunteers who can work with one or more adult students to help them meet their literacy goals. This usually involves foundational skills tutoring in reading, writing, listening, speaking, math and/or computers. A Police check is required. Volunteers must be 20 years of age or older. The next training session (online via Zoom) is Friday, Sept. 25 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. continuing on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Please fill out their registration form at http://www.lethlib.ca/readon or for more information, call Margaret at 403-320-3133.
NORD BRIDGE SENIORS CENTRE – WINNERS BINGO REPRESENTATIVE VOLUNTEER
The Mission of Nord-Bridge is to provide educational, social, and support service programs for Senior Citizens, and to foster independence, self worth, and a sense of community pride amongst the senior citizen population of Lethbridge and surrounding communities. They are looking for a Winners Bingo Rep Volunteer to work with an adviser to count and check money and cards in the office, make sure all volunteers are present, and at the end of the day, will need to sign for money deposited. STITCH IT FORWARD SOCIETY – SEWING VOLUNTEERS
By working on meaningful and helpful items, volunteers will help others in need. Stitch It Forward is looking for volunteers to help them sew Personal Protective Equipment to be used because of new health standards. Items to be sewn include; uniform washing bags (simple draw string pattern), ear saves (headbands with buttons, and other designs), and cloth washable masks. They can supply all materials you need and assistance can be given by the Stitch It Forward staff via email, phone, or through their Facebook page. No-contact pickup and drop off for supplies. For sewing projects, you must have your own sewing machine. You will work from home, read easy, step by step instructions or make own pattern all on your own schedule. FAMILY CENTRE SOCIETY – GOOGLE GRANTS CO-ORDINATOR – GOOGLE ADS VOLUNTEER
The vision that Family Centre is always seeking to achieve is, Healthy Children! Healthy Families! Healthy Communities! Family Centre is looking for one volunteer who can help them with Google ads. Google offers free advertising for non-profits and the volunteer in this position would explore how it can be put to use, maintain and monitor this system in how it does for advertising monthly and how to improve it. This is for someone who is excited about digital marketing. Engagement would be heavier in the beginning, to sort out how it works (10 – 20 hours/month) and then on a much smaller scale on a regular basis (1 – 3 hours / month). OLDMAN WATERSHED COUNCIL – CASINO VOLUNTEERS
The Oldman Watershed Council’s vision is a healthy, resilient watershed where people, wildlife and habitat thrive. They are looking for volunteers to assist at their casino event on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 in all positions. Whether you are an experienced casino volunteer or have never stepped foot in one, they have all positions available and training is provided on site. Wear comfy shoes as this opportunity requires standing indoors. Casinos are an important event for an organization’s sustainability and volunteer support is much appreciated. Tetra Society of North America is a non-profit organization that empowers people with disabilities through volunteer built custom assistive devices that overcome obstacles to independence. They are looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing individual to help raise awareness about their organization. The successful candidate will develop a promotional strategy for the new Lethbridge Chapter. They will create promotional materials and seek out direct-to-client advertising opportunities throughout the city.
