LETHBRIDGE HERALD
Lethbridge Police have charged two men following an investigation that led to the seizure of drugs, cash and a vehicle.
Earlier this summer members of the Priority Crimes Unit initiated a short-term investigation into dial-a-dope drug trafficking activity.
On Tuesday, PCU, with assistance from the Crime Suppression Team, Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and Patrols, arrested two males following a targeted traffic stop. During a search of the vehicle incidental to arrest police seized methamphetamine and cocaine with a combined street value of more than $5,100 and more than $7,600 cash.
The vehicle was subsequently seized and a search warrant was obtained and executed at a local hotel. An additional $500 in cash proceeds of crime was seized from the hotel room.
Ajit Singh Kahlon, 24, of Edmonton, and Sumrath Singh Bindra, 18, of Leduc have each been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Following Judicial Interim Release hearings both men were released from custody by a Justice of the Peace and are schedule to appear in court Sept. 24.
