Our Lady of the Assumption School is holding a STEM Day monthly through the school year, with a focus on activities involving science, technology, engineering and math.
The first STEM day was held Nov. 23 with the projects for all grades involving the use of newspaper and masking tape. Grades 1 and 2 were to build a tower as tall as they could that would stand on its own. Grades 3 and 4 were to build a tower that would hold a ball, such as a basketball. Grades 5 and 6 were to build a chair. The goal was that the chair would support five dictionaries and then support one of the members of the group.
Our Lady of the Assumption School expressed its thanks for support from families and the Lethbridge Herald in supplying the school with leftover newspapers, which helped to ensure there was enough newspaper for the projects.
