SACPA to discuss siege at the United States Capitol

By Herald on January 13, 2021.

The Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs will be focusing on the current turmoil in American politics following last week’s events at the United States Capitol, where supporters of Donald Trump stormed the building in an attempt to overturn the outgoing president’s defeat.
The speaker, University of Lethbridge political science professor John von Heyking, will provide history and context to the hostilities and siege at the United States Capitol, while speculating on the broader near and long-term effects on US politics, political institutions and indeed, democracy.
Thursday’s online session is set for 10 a.m. on the SACPA YouTube channel.
In order to ask questions of the speaker in the chat feature of YouTube, those wishing to participate must have a YouTube account and be signed in.
