The Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation hosted the annual Care from the Heart Radio-a-thon Thursday and was able to surpass its goal of $250,000.
Throughout the day, six local radio stations broadcasted lived from their respective stations, encouraging listeners to make a donation. Kill 107.7, 106.7 Rock, Country 95.5, B-93.3, 94.1 CJOC FM and 2Day FM 98.2 all participated and helped raise $262,412 for the foundation.
“We are once again thankful for the outstanding support of our community,” says Jason VandenHoek, executive director of Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation. “Because of this support, we can continue to ensure that the best of care is available at the Chinook Regional Hospital.”
Although in previous years, radio stations were set up at the Chinook Regional Hospital and people were encouraged to drop by and donate, there were no stations located at the hospital due to COVID-19 restrictions, and all donations were made online or over the phone.
The proceeds raised from this event will be used to support the greatest needs at the Chinook Regional Hospital, including the ongoing renovation and redevelopment of the mental health area as well as supporting the hospital’s COVID-19 response.
“My family, just like yours, has utilized the services of the Chinook Regional Hospital,” says Bob Balog, honorary chair. “We will all continue to experience the best of care thanks to the many generous donations that were received during Care from the Heart. I am humbled and thank everyone for their support.”
The Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated exclusively to raising and accepting funds in support of the priorities of the Chinook Regional Hospital and Alberta Health Services in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta. The foundation focuses on state-of-the-art health care equipment, vital programs and capital and special projects to help deliver the best possible care to the community.
Each year, Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation spearheads a number of fundraising initiatives. In addition to accepting financial gifts from individual and corporate donors, the Foundation seeks funding through grants and actively engages in community partnerships.
