Family Centre looking for community support with fundraiser bottle drive

By Lethbridge Herald on May 25, 2021.

Lethbridge’s Family Centre has partnered with GPS Container Depots to run another large bottle drive as a safe fundraising initiative.
With the support of the community, last year’s bottle drive was a huge success and the plan is to have another successful event this year, they say.
“The pandemic has hit our organization financially, unable to recover funds from larger fundraising events and the termination of a few funding avenues. COVID-19 has also amplified existing Adverse Childhood Experiences and is in itself a new adverse experience for individuals of all ages. Our organization is here to help families build resiliency and navigate through such times, and we need the support of our community to continue to serve our families,” said executive director Maral Kiani Tari in a release.
Family Centre says it is asking for the community’s support in helping their vision of healthy children, healthy families, and healthy communities – with each little bottle adds up to make a big difference.
The bottle drive is set for this Saturday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. with donations being accepted at Family Centre West 230 Coalbanks Blvd. or GPS Container Depot locations at 613 13 Street N. and 10-872 Heritage Blvd. West.
Those who cannot visit one of the 3 drop-off locations or have a large number of bottles are encouraged to contact Family Centre and a representative will provide selected neighbourhood pickup times or arrange for a pickup.
GPS Container Depot will continue to receive bottles donated to Family Centre until June 30th.
Every 2 large bags of bottles will receive an entry to win a Scott’s Gardening Package valued at over $150.
Family Centre, based in Lethbridge, is a non-profit organization providing a comprehensive range of services to children, youth and families in southwestern Alberta, focused on prevention and early intervention.
