Makarchuk places fifth on MJT tour stop

Six southern Alberta golfers were in the field at The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT G&G Prodigy Series at Turner Valley Golf Club in Turner Valley last weekend.

In the girls 15-19 division, Taber’s Alanna Makarchuk, 18, placed fifth with a two-day score of 81 and 87 for a total of 168.

Lethbridge’s Tristan Howes, 12, shot a two-round 204 to take sixth place in the pee wee boys division.

In the Bantam boys division, Taber’s Lyndon Kuryvial took seventh place as the 13-year-old shot 158 over the two days.

In the Juvenile boys division, Roan Crowe of Claresholm (163) took 12th place, Alex Makarchuk of Taber (168) was 14th and Lethbridge’s Massimo Crow (183) was 22nd.

The event featured a full field of strong players and was highlighted by a hole-in-one and a playoff.

Players were vying for six division titles as well as valuable points on the MJT Order of Merit presented by RBC.
