The Coaldale Copperheads were winless in the second week of Heritage Junior Hockey League play.
The Copperheads were blanked 6-0 by the Okotoks Bisons Friday night in Okotoks before dropping a close 4-3 decision to the Medicine Hat Cubs Saturday night at the Coaldale Sportsplex.
With the losses the Copperheads are 1-3 and in fifth place in the HJHL Southern Division.
On Saturday at the Coaldale Sportsplex, the Copperheads and Cubs were tied 2-2 after the second period before Medicine Hat scored twice in the first 9:59 of the third.
Coaldale’s Mason Sande scored with 8:59 to go to pull the Copperheads within one, but the hosts couldn’t net the equalizer.
Kole Fujita and Derrien Tonin also scored for the Copperheads.
Sande also had an assist for a two-point night.
Logan Leroux kicked out 19 of 23 shots in goal for Coaldale.
On Friday in Okotoks, the Bisons jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first before adding two more in the second and one in the third.
Leroux made 21 saves in the loss.
The Copperheads are back home for a pair of games this weekend.
They host the Strathmore Wheatland Kings Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and the Rocky Rams Sunday at 6 p.m.
