Raymond, Magrath off to semifinals

Day 1 of the 4J Zones hit the court in Magrath Friday as Westwind Schools enjoyed a strong opening day.
The Grade 9 teams from Raymond and Magrath entered zone play ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, and after round-robin play Friday, both teams are ranked first in their pools and advance to the semifinals today at 11:15 a.m.
Magrath split with LCI and swept Father Leonard Van Tighem to win their pool.
Raymond split with St. Francis and then beat Winston Churchill and Alexandria from Medicine Hat to win their pool.
Action continues this morning at 10 a.m. as LCI and St. Francis square off, while Alexandria and FLVT play in the other match with the winners advancing to the semifinals.
The championship and bronze medal games go at 1 p.m.
