Another summer around the ol’ ball yard is set as the Western Canadian Baseball League released its schedule Tuesday with 308 regular-season games scheduled, plus playoffs.
It starts with opening day May 26 at Spitz Stadium as the defending WCBL champion Lethbridge Bulls host the Sylvan Lake Gulls for a special night to honour Mitch Ball, a longtime league umpire who passed away last year.
The second game of the three-game set at Spitz Stadium May 27 will see the Bulls raise their 2021 championship banner.
Opening weekend continues May 27-29 with a number of season-opening dates for WCBL clubs.
The Okotoks Dawgs play host to the Brooks Bombers at Seaman Stadium, while the Fort McMurray Giants welcome the Edmonton Prospects to Shell Place for their first home game since 2019.
In Saskatchewan, the Moose Jaw Miller Express will face the Medicine Hat Mavericks under the Friday night lights and the Weyburn Beavers will take on the Swift Current 57’s at Tom Laing Park.
The Mavericks play their home opener against the Miller Express at a newly-renovated Athletic Park May 29.
Elks Field in Brooks will see the Bulls take the field for home-opening ceremonies alongside the Bombers for a late afternoon tilt to close out the weekend.
The Lethbridge Baseball Festival will take the field June 3-5 when the Prospects visit Spitz Stadium for a four-game set against the Bulls.

July 1 Canada Day action will feature a pair of day games and five night games involving WCBL squads as the Bombers travel to Lethbridge for one of the afternoon tilts. The Bulls and Bombers complete the second leg of a doubleheader that night and fireworks are expected to cap off the festivities at our ballparks.
The WCBL All-Star Game goes July 23 at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, including a home run derby, a concert, baseball celebrities and post-game fireworks, while the August Long Weekend Aug. 1 features a quartet of holiday games, including a game between the Gulls and Bulls.
The Bulls will also be a part of the Little Leaguers Dream Big Aug. 3 with Little League squads invited to attend Seaman Stadium for a game between the Bulls and Dawgs.
Fan Appreciation Events will also take place in the last week of the regular season, including a number of fan appreciation celebrations.
The Bulls wrap up the regular season Aug. 6 at home against the Prospects.
The WCBL playoffs start for the eight teams left standing Aug. 8 and are expected to take approximately 10 days to complete.
