Hebert enjoying curling experiences in Lethbridge

For Alberta lead Ben Hebert, he enjoys coming to curl in Lethbridge to represent his province.

“I mean being the home team is always the favourite (thing),” said Hebert.

“We’ve got to be the home team a few times at couple of Briers and Olympic trials—having the crowd behind you and having family and friends here— it’s pretty special, especially as you get older. It’s been great—I love the City of Lethbridge— we have great memories here with playing the Worlds here in 2019. Food’s great, people are great, you know good curling community-, very knowledgeable.”

Hebert has participated in a world curling events here a couple of times and in the 2019 World Championships as a part of Canada and now the Brier

“When the Brier got announced here in Lethbridge, we definitely wanted to come back here and represent our province,” said Hebert.

Alberta had to earn their win against New Brunswick on Tuesday afternoon.

Both teams were deadlocked at 2-2 after eight ends, before Alberta’s Team (Kevin) Koe rink was able to pull away with three points in the final two ends.

“We had lots of chances to put them away early and they kind of escaped from Alcatraz a few times,” said Hebert.

“I thought Darren (Moulding, Team New Brunswick’s third) made a couple good doubles and James (Gratten) made a couple really good hit and rolls and that game could have been over early. We played pretty well. I would say we’re playing good; we’re just not playing great. So, I’m hoping we can crank it up and find our A game here just in time for the playoffs because we’re trending in the right direction.”

Alberta beat Canada 5-4 Wednesday night to improve to 6-1 and finish out the round robin against P.E.I at 1:30 p.m. today.
