THOMSON

With very heavy hearts, we announce the passing of JENNIFER THOMSON. Jennifer passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21st, 2022, at 48 years of age.

She was a loving woman who cared deeply for her family and dear friends. Jennifer’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Mitch, daughters: Mikayla (Nick Hanna) and Miya; sons: Jackson and Daniel; mother, Connie Dickout and sister, Lesley Dickout (Jordan King). She was loved dearly by her father-in-law, Don Thomson, mother-in-law, Lyn Montes (Rudy), and brothers-in-Law: Trevor (Natacha) and Corey Thomson (Analyn). Her nephews will further treasure her memory: Bradyn (Natalie Ortiz) Mitchell, Dylan Mitchell, and Cayden Thomson. In addition, she will be fondly remembered by her nieces: Maria, Dahlia, Titania, and Jorja Thomson, as well as by her grand-nephew Bentley Mitchell. Jennifer was blessed with a large extended family, very dear friends, and had many special bonds with people she considered family. She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Emory (Anthony) Piquette, and her nephews Marcus, Soren, Paul, Leo and niece, Alia. Special friends Lorraine Brantner, Charlene and Peter Winsor, and many others will deeply mourn her passing. Jennifer was predeceased by her father, Allen Dickout, and mother-in-law Pearl Thomson. She deeply mourned their passings and felt the loss of many dear relatives.

Jennifer has roots in Lethbridge, she was born in the city and was surrounded by a large family with grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins to grow up with. She lived in Claresholm for a couple of years but, for the most part, was raised in Lethbridge’s northside attending Westminster Elementary, Wilson Jr. High, and graduating from Winston Churchill High School with the class of 1992. Jennifer attended Lethbridge Community College, earning her diploma in Early Learning and Child Care. She had a passion for children and dedicated much of her life to kids. She operated several dayhomes and daycares during her career.

In High School, Jennifer met Mitch and fell in love. They married on September 17th, 1994. As a couple, they were blessed with four children she adored. In addition, they opened their home to care for nearly 30 foster children she loved like her own. On March 28th, Jennifer and Mitch celebrated their thirtieth dating anniversary. They continued to celebrate both their dating and wedding anniversaries each year.

Jennifer was a natural mother. She understood her children and strived to help them reach their potential as happy, confident, good, and capable people. She treasured their achievements and was always in their corner. Jennifer was an incredibly supportive wife and the best life partner. She put the needs of her family before her own and always worked to be her best self. Jen gave generously and expected nothing in return. She loved family camping trips and time spent shopping and being pampered with the girls. Jenny was very close with her parents and sister and invested her time and energy in them with as much vigor as she did her own children. She cared deeply for her in-laws. She had a caring soul and was a true friend.

Jennifer struggled with depression and anxiety. She was facing an uphill battle with her physical health and had been experiencing great difficulty. Despite this, Jen had hope and demonstrated grit and perseverance. She longed for better health and was working towards achieving her goals, her family being her greatest motivation.

Jennifer will be remembered for her selflessness and unconditional love. Unfortunately, a heart attack took her from us. We hurt because of our loss and the many things she will miss. We will strive to honour her and be grateful for the beauty she brought to our lives.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday April 30, 2022 at THE ITALIAN CANADIAN CULTURAL CENTRE (1511 Saint Edward Boulevard North, Lethbridge).

Friends are welcome to meet with the Family from 7:00 till 8:00 PM on Friday April 29, 2022 at SALMON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME (433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge)
