Air show returning after five-year hiatus

The Lethbridge International Airshow is a go this July after a board decision was made early last month.
The Airshow, which was last held in 2017, was in jeopardy of not taking flight this year due to the need for board members and volunteers.
“The board is in place now, so it’s a go ahead,” said Gail Pontarolo, Airshow past president.
“The city has given us approval for it and right now we’re gung-ho to put it together.”
The board is looking for volunteers for parking, gate admission, on the grounds to make sure the garbage is picked up and for set up duties.
“The board is very excited to finally have approval for an Airshow that we can put together and hopefully bring the people out from Lethbridge and surrounding areas to come and enjoy the planes up in the air doing their acts,” said Pontarolo.
The Airshow confirmed an F-18 demo team will be in the air and the rest of the show are all performers as well as a wing walker.
A monster truck will be on the grounds, the hope is to have HALO Air Ambulance and STARS for a static display and bouncy castles are being looked into for the kids.
Pontarolo wanted to remind attendees that they’re more than welcome to bring lawn chairs if they so choose, but no tents will be made available and food trucks will be on site.
Bikes, liquor, pets, rollerblades and sunflower seeds will be prohibited.
