Lethbridge FC satisfied with draw against Edmonton

By Justin Seward - Lethbridge Herald on June 1, 2022.

Lethbridge FC men’s team were pleased with a 1-1 draw with Edmonton Green and Gold on Saturday afternoon after the club’s 0-2 start to the 2022 season.
“I thought we played really well after the initial first two games we had,” said Lethbridge FC men’s head coach Mark Meerkerk.
“We had a lot of work to do. I think we played a good control game today. Yeah, I was very happy.”
Meerkerk thought what was lacking in the first two games was their mid-field play.
“Today, I think we straighten that out and I think we looked a lot better there,” he said.
“Our back end looked amazing today. So once we can work out the striking end, I think we should be in great shape.”
Meerkerk felt the team still created chances around the net.
“I think it was just that tight out there today,” he said.
“We’re missing a couple of guys still on injury. So, you know, having a few of those extra bodies coming back in again will help us out as well.”
A takeaway for FC is growth in games moving forward in the season.
Meerkerk said a lot of these guys looked good playing together
“And I think we’re on the right foot going forward,” he said.
The men’s team will be back in action on Saturday against Calgary Cavalry U20, 4 p.m., at Lethbridge’s Servus Sports Centre outdoor field.
As for the Women FC, they reman undefeated as the ladies shut out Calgary SWU 2-0 in the earlier match on the day.
Their next game is also on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Edmonton Northwest United also at Servus Sports Centre outdoor field.
