Bulls lose to Prospects

The Lethbridge Bulls drop to 1-5 on the season after losing 14-5 to the Edmonton Prospects on Friday night at Spitz Stadium.

 After two scoreless innings, the Prospects would heat up their bats with two outs in the top of the third by scoring four runs on three hits.

The Prospects Dominic Meza hit a double with two outs and driving in Caleb Feuerstake and Steven MacKenzie as unearned runs to open the scoring.

It was short time later that Jordan Phillips hit single to cash in Mesa.

Jack Fitzgerald walked and Phillips advanced to second before a wild pitch advanced both runners.

Fitzgerald would get to third on a pass ball and Phillips would score an unearned run to make the game 4-0 Edmonton.

However, the hometown Bulls would cut the Prospects lead in half in the bottom half of the inning as Nick Gravel would hit a double to score Noah Rodriguez, who had hit a double earlier on.

Gravel then would advance to third on an error by Edmonton catcher and then would score on a passed ball.

Fast forward to the fourth inning and Edmonton did more damage as MacKenzie hit a sacrifice fly  to score Tyler Freas to make it 5-2 Prospects.

Phillips would hit a two-out double  to score Feuerstake and Mesa to tack on a couple more runs in the fourth.

The Bulls Kyle Turner hit a two-out double down the left field line to cash in Nick Gravel and Kalem Haney to cut the deficit to 7-4 in the bottom of the fifth.

Edmonton would double their lead in the top of the sixth as MacKenzie hit a single to score Cole Dawson, who led off the inning with a double.

Haney would get the Bulls fifth run after Roger Riley hit a single in the bottom of the seventh to make the contest 8-5.

The Prospects would score six more in the ninth to solidify the win.

Both teams will play a double header today with games at 2:05 p.m.  and 7:05 p.m. at Spitz Stadium.
