Nicol wins bronze at FINA World Aquatic Championships

Lethbridge’s Rachel Nicol competed at the FINA World Aquatic Championships in Budapest last  Saturday and came out of the pool with a  bronze medal for Team Canada in the woman’s 4×4 100-metre medley relay.

Nicol was paired with teammates Kylie Masse, Maggie MacNeil and Penny Oleksiak. Their finishing time was 3:55.01,  the United States finished first with a time of 3:53.78 and second place going to Australia with a time of 3:54.25.

Nicol did the  breastroke leg of the relay, Masse did backstroke, MacNeil did the butterfly and Oleksiak did the freestyle portion.

This is Nicol’s fourth time on the national team in a World Championship setting and her second World Championship medal, with the first one being in the same event in Ontario back in 2016.
