The Winston Churchill High School Bulldogs football team were elated on Friday after beating Brooks 21-1 in an exhibition game.

Despite the game being only exhibition, it broke a long period of losing for the program and acted  as a confidence booster moving forward into real game action this weekend.

Grayson Indenbosch had 87 yards rushing, Olivier Koribikomeye had 92 yards rushing, a touchdown and eight tackles while quarterback Brady Wilson had a touchdown and Connor Trechka had a touchdown.

Lucio De Musso had five tackles and an interception and Codey McKinley had three sacks.

“We were definitely hungry for a win— it’s been awhile,” said head coach Jonathan Dick.

“It was great to come out the start of the season and get that first ‘W’ and build some confidence with the players. So you can definitely see how it affects their mindset … and the team’s going into Week 2 with that higher level of confidence.”

Dick said it was great to see that  the players had that confidence booster and it shows them that all that hard work  they put in the last three weeks has really paid off.

“I think going forward that helps them realize hey if we keep working, we ‘re going to have some more success,” said Dick.

Winston Churchill will play Catholic Central on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
