For the second straight game, the Lethbridge Hurricanes were held off the score sheet as the Red Deer Rebels won 5-0 on Friday night in Red Deer.
The hometown Rebels opened the scoring on the powerplay as Kalan Lind capitalized at 16:24 of the opening frame while the Canes Zach Bansley served a holding penalty.
The scoring resumed in the third period as Red Deer would score four goals starting with Hunter Mayo at 8:48 of the final period, followed by Kai Uchacz with an empty netter at 15:53 and Jace Isley and Jhett Larson scoring eight seconds apart near the end to push Red Deer to 4-0 on the season.
Harrison Meneghin saved 26 of 30 Rebel shots while Kyle Kelsey made 26 shots in the shutout effort .
Red Deer when 2-for-5 and Lethbridge was 0-for-3 on the powerplay.
Lethbridge’s record dropped to 2-3 and will host the Prince Albert Raiders tonight at the Enmax Centre at 7 p.m.
