U18 AAA Hurricanes go 2-0 on the weekend

The Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA hockey team picked up a couple of wins on the weekend to improve to 6-4-0-0 on the season.
Lethbridge edged Okotoks 6-5 on Friday on the road.
Deegan Kinniburgh and Hudson Gainer got the visitors out to a 2-0 lead in the first.
The Oilers’ Kyle McDonough would cut the Canes lead in half just 4:59 in to the second period.
Paul VandenElzen restored the Canes two-goal lead at 8:51 of the second period, before Kinniburgh notched his second of the game heading into the second intermission to make the game 4-1.
Okotoks cut the lead in half as Jaxson Doyle scored on the powerplay at 7:55 of the third period. McDonough scored a minute later on the powerplay to make the contest a one-goal affair at that point.
Carter Cunningham once again gave the Canes a two-goal lead at 12:18 of the third period.
However, under three minutes later Okotoks made it 5-4 as Andrew Sikora found the back of the net.
Matthew Sholdice would solidify the win for Lethbridge with an empty netter with 1:04 to go in the game.
The Oilers hung around as Kole Duquette notched a goal with 15 seconds to go in the game.
The Canes needed overtime to beat the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers 3-2 on Saturday at Nicholas Sheran. Arena.
Aidyn Law was the overtime hero, as he scored 1:37 into the extra session.
The teams went into the second period scoreless before Lethbridge’s Chase Bambrick broke the deadlock at 3:07 of the middle frame.
Fort Saskatchewan tied it up as Quinn Szpak found the back of the net at 8:56 of the middle period.
The Canes responded with Josh Evaschesan scoring with a second to go in the period to give the home team the lead heading into the intermission.
The Rangers’ Ryan Heuser tied the contest up at 17:32 of third period tie the game.
The Canes sit in third place.
U15AAA
The Val Matteoti Golden Hawks tied both of their games.
The Hawks tied the Calgary Royals 3-3 on Saturday at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
Lethbridge got out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Cohen Nasadny and Barrett Van Nistelrooy in the first period.
Calgary would get two of their own in the second period as Ali Nasser and Rory Frew tallied to tie the game.
The Royals would move ahead 3-2 in the third as Jayden Chan scored at 8:14, before Ryker Klassen replied for the Hawks at 13:40 to preserve the tie.
In Okotoks on Sunday, the Hawks and Oilers traded goals in the first period as Fynn Roersma scored for Lethbridge and Noah Milford replied for the Oilers.
Roersma scored his second of the game at 10:46 of the second period and Rylan Ng gave the visitors a 3-1 lead at 14:49.
Okotoks got a goal back with 18 seconds to go in the period off the stick of Dreyton Aleman.

The Hawks sit in seventh place with a 3-3-0-2 record
U17 AAA
The Headwater Hurricanes collected a tie and a loss on the road in Edmonton.
Lethbridge began with a 3-3 tie with the CAC Gregg Distributors.
The Canes followed the tie up with a 5-1 loss to South Side Athletic Club.
The Headwater Hurricanes’ record now sits at 0-4-1-1.
